Fiscal Conservative and Social Libertarian. Proud member of the Army National Guard and Currently serving in Iraq. Have been a lurker since 99.
I feel it is necessary to explain my political beliefs more fully.
Was raised a democrat, became an independent in 1998. Now leaning towards the Republican party. My beliefs are as follows.
Deficits - government should have a budget and stick to it. I do not want to leave my children or grandchildren with a huge debt to pay off.
Defense - The best way to secure peace is to prepare for war.
Guns - PRO 2nd amendement, and finally Ohio passed a conceal carry law.
Abortion - Pro-Choice, According to the 14th Amendment all persons BORN or naturalized are citizens of the united states and the states wherin they reside. So in my humble opinion you have a woman who is a citizen and a fetus which is not and as long as it is still inside her, she can do what she will to it.
Seperation of Church and State - believe in it. But I believe that this means government is neutral to both religion and non-religious beliefs. Not hostile to either.
(and for those wondering I am an atheist. Yes there are atheist in foxholes, there are five in just my unit. In fact we have our own organization Military Association for Atheists and Freethinkers (MAAF).)
Minority rights - tired of people hiding behind their race or religion. Believe society should be colorblind. Why Bill Cosby's kids should get some kind of extra points to get into college over some poor white kids is beyond me.
Immigration - We need to control our borders. We should begin with a massive ditch and fence across the southern border.
Income Tax - Abolish it. Replace with a flat tax or even better a national sales tax. In a free society there is no reason why I should have to tell the government how much I spent on dry cleaning my uniforms or that I bought a computer that I primarily use for work.
