I am a resident of Oregon from a pioneer family that arrived in 1846 along the Applegate Trail in a wagon train. There was a fairly long hiatus in that residency while I worked and attended graduate school in Florida, Texas, Georgia, California, and Mexico.

My wife is from Monterrey, Mexico and we speak mostly Spanish at home.

My wife and I homeschool our two children (ages 9 and 10) due to the abysmal quality of the government schools in the Corvallis and Albany areas. After having homeschooled for over a year, we can think of no reason that would inspire us to return to the government schools even if the system were the best in the country.

We have no television. We view this as a wonderful blessing.

We are members of a church that features home meetings (no church buildings), an unpaid, homeless ministry and a very serious effort to follow the New Testament model.

We are pro-life litmus test voters.

Favorite authors include William Dembski, Cornelius Jaenen, Ben Witherington III, N.T. Wright, Phillip Johnson, and others.

We subscribe to World Magazine, Forbes, Biblical Archeological Review, Selecciones, and a number of kids and women's magazines.

We run one (Ubuntu) Linux computer and one Windows computer in our home. They are networked together.

I graduated from Oregon State University in 1978 with a BS in Business Administration and University of Texas at El Paso in 1990 with an MS in Industrial Engineering.

I work as a Senior Engineer in the areas of machine vision and statistics.
