My family has been in America since early in the 1630s. Notable names related (in one way or another) to my family include Ethan Allen (of Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys), Bing Crosby, jazz saxophonist David Sanborn and Sewell Avery. My father, brother, sister, uncles, grandfathers and great-grandfathers all served in the military, most as career officers in the Army, Navy or Air Force.

As a kid growing up, we moved a total of 13 times by the time I enlisted in the Navy at the age of 18. When people ask me where I grew up, I answer “moving vans!” Today, I have had the good fortune to have seen ~2/3rds of the world. I don’t have an “old neighborhood” to go back to, but I have seen more of America and the world than most people have the opportunity to see. I wouldn’t trade that for anything!

In the Navy I was trained as an Aviation Electronics Technician (AT) and flew as a radio operator aboard P-3Bs. Later, when that tour of duty ended, I transitioned to EA-6Bs and worked both operational and intermediate level maintenance.

Since leaving the Navy in ‘74, I completed both my BA and MBA and worked in high-tech companies. I am currently back in school to obtain my Cisco CCNA and CCNP certifications.

My core beliefs have always been conservative and I have voted Republican in every election up to the development of the Tea Party. Today, I consider myself a proud member of the Tea Party and support the following:

1. Strict adherence to the Constitution and the guiding principles the Founding Fathers left us.

2. Repeal of the 14th, 16th and 17th Amendments. And re-writing the 14th to clarify the meaning of “Natural Born” so that it can no longer be misinterpreted by ANYONE!

3. Limiting voting in elections ONLY to those who pay state and federal taxes. Local sales tax doesn’t count. And, almost EVERYONE will pay federal taxes.

4. DOMA!! A marriage is between a man and a woman; NOT between John and Larry or Joan and Mary. I believe that Judeo-Christian values need to be re-introduced in our society and practiced in the schools! The Pledge of Allegiance and daily school prayers strengthened our society and did not harm anyone!

5. The POTUS should have the privilege of legislating by Executive Order permanently and irrevocably revoked! It has been abused by presidents from BOTH parties.

6. The Congress should be limited to strict term limits enacted and enforced by each state. Term limits shall also be extended to include congressional staff members and bureaucrats. Government was NEVER intended to be a career path.

7. Congressional/government pay rates and raises shall be controlled by the voters of each state. The House and Senate shall NO LONGER be allowed to vote on or control their own pay, deductions, honorariums, perks, or the like. In addition, their pension, if any, will be established and controlled by the voters in their state.

8. Congress will be restricted to the number of laws they can create (I suggest a max of 10,000) and those laws MUST both cite and meet a reference to the Constitutional clause that grants the Congress such privilege. In addition, Congress should be restricted to being in session for no more than 5 months once every other year to pass a federal budget. Like the state legislatures, if the president needs the Congress back in session, he can call them back into special session as he sees fit. Otherwise, they go home, go back to their regular jobs and live in the mess they have created.

9. Federal judges will no longer be appointed for life, including SCOTUS justices. Federal judges may be appointed for 1 term of 10 years and, at the pleasure of the president, they may be re-appointed for one additional 10-year term but, NO MORE! Federal judges may ONLY be questioned about administering law, NOT about their party affiliation or their party interpretation of the law or Roe v. Wade. Interpretations of law MUST be made within strict adherence to the letter and intent of the Constitution ONLY! In addition, each candidate for SCOTUS justice MUST be able to pass a test on the Constitution and the limits that stem from the Constitution with respect to judicial activism.

10. ALL laws, ordinances, regulations, etc., will apply equally to the members of Congress as to the population at large. In addition, Congress can create no agencies, commissions or departments to whom they may grant their Constitutionally-granted obligation to create laws. The Congress will create federal laws (as defined by the Constitution), the Judiciary will assess those laws with respect to their compliance with the Constitution and ONLY their compliance with the United States Constitution, and the president shall execute those laws as stipulated by the US Constitution. Each bill prepared by the Congress must contain one and only one topic as allowed by the Constitution.

11. All laws passed by Congress MUST BE accessible to the public for a minimum of 15 calendar days for comment before being sent to the president.

12. ALL federal election ballots should have a selection of “None of the Above” for each federally elected position on the ballot. In ANY election in which “None of the Above” gets the majority of the vote, the election results for that seat are rejected and a new election set to occur in 6 weeks. Any candidate running for the rejected federal seat may NOT run in the new election.

13. Any and all individuals elected or appointed to federal office are PROHIBITED from naming any building, road, highway, park or other infrastructure project that is built with taxpayer money after themselves or anyone else. Unless the individual after which the project is named paid for 100% of its construction, the item is owned by the taxpayers and shall not be named for anyone else. The only exception to this is, in accordance with Navy tradition and federal laws, naming U.S. Naval ships after persons deserving such an honor.
