My Transformation from Democrat to Republican

Former Democrat, whose disgust with the Clinton's, their actions, and most importantly, the total failure of the Democrat's to come out and state that his behavior, as POTUS, was unacceptable, has led me to join the R's.

Actually, my transition to becoming a Republican was longer in developing then just that, specifically:

* The Borking of Bork - No man was more qualified and No man was more ideologically unacceptable to the D's. This was personal attack, as policy and was disgusting.

* Clarence Thomas - Another vicious attack on a man's character. He liked porno? Yet, Clinton's behaviour gets a pass?

* Clinton's First Big Lie - 'Stand by your man'/60 min. They lied through their teeth. W/o that lie, he goes back to being another dope from Hope.

* Cabinet Selections - Janet Reno, paleeze. Waco, 84 dead. Military assault.

*Billy Dale (travelgate) - One of the little guys who got in the way. A totally innocent 25-year government employee was totally destroyed so that FOB's could have his job. The D's are the friends of the little guy's, or so I had always believed.

The actions of the D's by supporting this man and his actions, indicated to me that the D party would do anything to forward their agenda, anything. I could no longer stomach them or that. Simultaneously to the above, two things happened that swayed me to the other side:

Newt Gingrich - While traveling (I believe in '95) I found myself wide-awake at 2:00 am local time. I turned on CSPAN and caught a speech by Newt Gingrich. I listened to him and heard for the first time his thoughts, ideas and goals, unfiltered by the media. I then realized that the sound bites that the media had been giving us were simply their method to portray him as the man they were intent on destroying. At that point I realized how misinformed I was regarding him and how the media had manipulated public opinion. When later he was attacked by the D's, I also realized, as did they (the D's), that Newt could not be defeated based on his ideology. Thus, 'crimes' of a modest nature were blown way out of proportion and the man was destroyed politically.

The Contract w/ America - This was simply put a brilliant piece of political strategy by Newt. One that led to an R take over of Congress. I read the contract, I accepted the challenge that it offered. I especially liked the line item veto, and still do. The LIV, could be the single best tool to stopping Gov't. Pork. However, it could also be the single most powerful tool for the POTUS, allowing him to award or punish friends and enemies. Yet, the R's were willing to give that power to a D. That alone earned them my respect and my vote.

A Senator, having served, with honors, in Vietnam for four months, has the unique qualifications to make him highly qualified to be the President.
Vietnam, and any actions taken to avoid the draft and military service during those turbulent times, is ancient history and that bringing up old wounds will not serve the nations needs today.

A multi BILLIONAIRE, whose hatred for George Bush is so strong that he has spent tens of millions of dollars in support of extremist organizations, has done so without consultations of high ranking Democrats, purely out of his altruistic desires to help his adopted country.
A man, who is a moderately wealthy Republican from Texas, and who has donated about $200,000 in support of a veteran’s organization, is proof positive that the Republicans have joined in an illegal campaign aimed at destroying John Kerry.

Moveon.org, an organization formed by two little known people from Berkeley based solely on their hate and contempt for Republicans and whose hate filled, profanity laced verbal attacks against a sitting President are so shameful that the DNC refuses to release their tapes, is a grass roots organization that is simply expressing their First Amendment rights.
SwiftBoat Veterans for truth, an organization of dozens of decorated Veterans who served with honor and distinction, is a group that has charged John Kerry with libelously false charges and has entered into an illegal conspiracy to destroy a man they served with.

A President, who inherited a recession, then presided over almost ten years of the worse economic crisis in US history, including double digit unemployment, is one of the greatest Presidents, ever.
A President, who inherited a recession and the worse terrorist attack in world history, one whose economic stewardship brought the nation out of recession and into recovery mode in less the 30 months, is one unqualified to hold the office.

The current President is one who lacks the intellectual capacity to grasp the complex nuances of international relationships to such a degree that the he is commonly referred to as an ‘idiot’.
The current President was the leader of a vast conspiracy that succeeded in the largest political theft in US history and thwarted the best efforts of the most intelligent lawyers available today, to attain his office via illegal methods.

The Vietnam war was so horrific that, in a effort to put this issue behind us, a Presidential pardon, which was a magnanimous and humanitarian gesture, was required for those that illegally fled the country to avoid military service.
Any member of the reserves or National Guard that missed some meeting, regardless of if they made them up or not, should now be pilloried and are undeserving of holding public office.
