Vivo Cristo Rey! (Translation: Long live Christ the King!)

Who am I?

Irish-Catholic college student who wasn't born in Texas but who got here as fast as she could. Attend the Indult Tridentine Mass and the Novus Ordo. I might not be thrilled with the vast majority of Catholic bishops, particularly those here in America (Burke, Bruskewitz, Vann and Vasa being notable exceptions) but I still recognize their authority.

The following are my views on...

Sacred Music and Liturgy:

If you play/sing/yowl "On Eagle's Wings," "Be Not Afraid," "Here I Am Lord" or "The Lord is My Shepherd" within my hearing range I will not be held responsible for my actions. The organ is the ONLY instrument that should be played at Mass. Yes, this does mean that rattles, drums, guitars, ukeleles and kazoos are not acceptable. If you are a perfect stranger and try to grab my hand during various parts of the Mass I will develop a severe bronchial cough and begin talking to myself. Hand-holding may be a good thing in prayer groups, 12-step programs etc but it is not appropriate during Mass. Anyone who gives a priest a cordless microphone for his homilies should be forced to listen to and watch that priest each and every time he uses it.
Most soprano soloists/cantors should be reserved for use on the suspects at Gitmo. After a few renditions of various Kumbaya-style hymns the prisoners would tell all just to make it stop. The vast majority of Catholic congregations are innocent civilians, however, and should not be forced to perform auditory penance.

Abortion:

Abortion is murder whether it is performed on a 4-day old "embryo" or a 40-week old "fetus."

Gun Control:

Gun control means knowing what to do with a gun when someone breaks into your house.

Soldiers and Their Families:

I don't care if you don't support the war. That's your right. It isn't your right to heckle the families of soldiers or vandalize their homes. If I catch you doing either, you will not be in a position to do such things again.

Saddam Hussein:

Anyone who feeds people who disagree with him into a wood chipper should not have nuclear/chemical/biological weapons. Why don't more people understand this?

Immigration:

I am in favor of making it easier for people from countries other than the US to come here legally. Obviously, a decent background check should be mandatory and I would be in favor of requiring one person in every family unit (ie, the father or mother) to actually have a job or business lined up before they get here. Furthermore, they should be checked up on to make sure that they are actually working for about the first five years. There are some good people in Mexico who genuinely want to come here for the better jobs and education and are willing to learn English and assimilate. I can't think of people I'd rather have living next door.
Conversely, I have no patience whatsoever with immigrants who come here illegally to live off welfare, get involved with gangs and who take it as a personal insult that I am not very fluent in Spanish. If they won't work or learn English, kick 'em from here to Argentina. Catch and release DOESN'T WORK.

The Flag, Cindy Sheehan, etc:

I respect your right to burn my flag only if you wrap yourself up in it first.
The charitable assumption about Cindy Sheehan is that she has lost her mind. The uncharitable assumptions are not appropriate for any but a mature audience.

Driving in Dallas:

Don't, unless you have a strong death wish.
