The scripture was given to an ancient Hebrew culture in a certain time and place. It was never meant to be a science book and if anyone makes it into a science book, they miss the whole point of it. Bible scholar Michael Hiser likes to say, let it speak to the ancient Hebrew living in your head.  In many ways the creation story in Genesis could be the Lord’s counter response to the secular creation stories of the Babylonian, Assyrians, and Egyptians. There are some similarities but from the Genesis account it is made really clear that it was the Lord God that brought order out of chaos and not the pagan demi-gods.

I found out that Michael Hiser the author of Unseen Realm passed away from pancreatic cancer just 8 days ago. Really makes me sad. He changed my understanding of what demons are just by using source material that was already out there. He just put it all together. I will miss his relaxed and easy way of teaching and researching. But his legacy will continue. He was a very prolific author and has hundreds of YouTube videos.

When you first sent the invite, I wanted to post about a new book of bible verse I bought but I thought it might be too mundane, and yet I’m still so pleased.

It’s “The Story” and it tries to place the verses/chapters in the bible in chronological order. It drops the verse numbering and formats the text like a story. I LOVE IT! So far, anyway. I’m just getting around to it now.

It’s funny that you should mention that book. Theresa (my better half) picked it up years ago and somehow, we still have it even though we have moved twice since. I kind of wrote the book off without reading it but did not know it also included the Old Testament. Just asked Theresa where the book is, and she said it was in my closet (ha) and sure enough I have it in hand. I’m going to give it a second look. Thanks, I’m sure it will be a blessing.
