I wonder if they intentionally buried guys from both sides together? Reminds me a quip made a Federal General after some battle, Lookout Mountain I think. The Federal troops were organized into units by home State. An Aide asked the General if he wanted casualties from each state to be buried together. The General replied: “No. Mix’em up. I’m tired of States Rights.”

It was not a “Civil War” as it has been called. The South was not trying to take over the government of the US, but merely to secede.

I prefer the name “War between the States”.
