Rob seems like a good guy, and is on the right side of many political issues. If the venue asks you to keep it clean, that’s what you do. Or turn down the job. On the other hand, if you want a G-rated stand-up act, maybe Rob isn’t your guy. Kind of like hiring an exotic dancer, then telling her she’s performing at a nun convention, so “keep it clean”.
