Answer: Trump and Cruz. The matter won't nearly harm Cruz as much as the NEastern states as it would have 25 days ago in the South.
The blogosphere has been frantically shopping it for six months, and nobody but but the National Enquirer, where Trump holds some sway, ran with it.

Trump is subject to lose, lose, lose with the gop-e at the convention unless he has Cruz voters and delegates ready to unite... and putting this now murkily-sourced mistress stuff through the grinder now instead of the gop-e preferred October is advantageous.
Of course it's also advantage Donald if TheThing dings Cruz in WI, but if Donald really, really wants POTUS it'll be way easier with Cruz supporters than not: Cruz brings way more votes than Reagan Democrats.
Trump/Cruz would win third-party as easily as GOP, combined.

I don’t think that the humility required for what you suggests exists in Cruz. Just my opinion, but he has a terrible record when it comes to admission of wrongdoing or even inappropriate behavior.
I would tend to believe that the GOPsleeze was waiting for the right moment at the convention to use this - AFTER dealing with Mr. Trump, of course...
I was hoping for this at the very beginning. What killed it was Cruz’s capitulation to the Bush/Romney establishment. I just don’t see him as an outsider anymore.
It shows that Cruz went to two of the best colleges in the world and Rubio didn’t.
Agree about the simmering. Additional shoes will drop as we’ve seen in similar cases, and as they resonate with key supporters and endorsers, the carnage will accelerate. It will be death by a thousand paper cuts rather than an overnight collapse, but no Republican, no conservative, noone who runs as a Christian - can stand up after this.
I think the humility in Cruz does exist... I really believe he and Carpenter were together for years, with a beautiful daughter as proof which is a disaster politically, normally. I can totally see how this happened in DC. But if he and Heidi have reconciled this, is there no better duo than Trump/Cruz to take out DC? With their combined base?

Cruz is no longer running as minister of anything, IMO. But this geek really DOES know and revere the Constitution, he knew this was waiting to spring on him. He knew he’d be throwing himself before the people’s court of opinion if continued the race, with Carpenter outing them relentlessly.

I don’t know how true these rumors are. Maybe the GOPe has been using this against Cruz. Maybe that is why they endorsed him. and he welcomed their endorsements. We need a leader beholden to no one. A leader cannot have secrets that could be used against them by an enemy - foreign or domestic.

Ted knows who he’s slept with, and how these things ricochet back sure as the sun rises. Question is, what was his plan to answer to the deminstrably righteous charges? The DNA-provable thing(s) happened before he won his Senate seat four years ago, yet he ran anyway. I think what happened is he and Heidi drifted apart, Amanda was there, and he had he was concentrating on how to undo Obama’s wreckage. Bookworm and geek that he is, I think he didn’t realize how soon his personal foibles woud Matter, like it does now, when it matters.
