"Nofollow" provides a way for webmasters to tell search engines "Don't follow links on this page" or "Don't follow this specific link."
***
it lets you easily instruct robots not to crawl a specific link. For example:
How does Google handle nofollowed links?
In general, we don't follow them. This means that Google does not transfer PageRank or anchor text across these links. Essentially, using nofollow causes us to drop the target links from our overall graph of the web. However, the target pages may still appear in our index if other sites link to them without using nofollow, or if the URLs are submitted to Google in a Sitemap. Also, it's important to note that other search engines may handle nofollow in slightly different ways.

1. When Freepers link to left-wing sites in comments, we might use rel="nofollow" so that we are not helping out, e.g., nyt, wapo, etc.
2. Could FR's software give us the option to chose a nofollow command when posting articles? Then we could use it or not, depending whether we want to help or not help the posted website's ranking.
3. Considering the left's war on conservative access to the web (e.g., facebook, youtube, and twitter censorship), there is no reason why we should not be engaged on this. We should not help out left-wing sites, and we should help out independent sources of information.
I am not a html or seo expert. Any elucidating comments welcome.
Rel=nofollow does not pass page rank to that page but google is fast moving to an ai model that will make all of this irelevent ... the new WordPress ia also packaging thing with their new Gutenberg plugin that will make it easier for google to just grab parts of your site for search results and users will eventually never visit your site....pay google or be an ally of google and you show... otherwise forget about it...these bans are just the beginning
Individual search results will make this almost impossible to prove
What about adding the nofollow command when links are posted in comments?
Does this thread need any bunnies or pancakes?
It will work in the short term... you are correct
If you really dont want to give credit you can screen shot the page and then archive it somewhere and post that link to the image.
Your comment went over my head.
Good luck on getting that tweak implemented. I think it would require the installation of a rich text editor, which the site owners have no interest in doing.
LOL. Is your middle initial “O”?
