Commenting on the course of counteroffensive operations in Ukraine, Pentagon believes that the Ukrainian forces have the necessary assets for their actions to be successful.
According to the correspondent of European Pravda, Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh expressed this assessment on Tuesday.
According to Singh, hostilities in Ukraine are “turning into protracted battles every day, as was the case in Bakhmut.”
“We know that the battles will be difficult. We know that it will take time. And we are sure that the Ukrainians have what they need. They have the combat power and the ability to succeed in counteroffensive operations,” she emphasised.
The Pentagon representative highlighted that a meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine took place last week, during which the participants announced new packages of military support to Kyiv.
”We believe that we have provided Ukraine with the systems and means that they need to fight right now. We understand that the battle will be difficult. And, of course, the Russians will adapt, as they have been since the beginning of the war. But so will the Ukrainians”, she added.
Singh pointed out that the US also took into account losses from the Ukrainian side in its calculations of aid to Ukraine.
“We knew that there would be losses on the battlefield. This is an unfortunate part of this war. But, as we saw, the Ukrainians have overcome it from the very beginning,” the Pentagon representative concluded.
According to reports, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that it is premature to draw any conclusions regarding whether the Ukrainian counteroffensive will mark a decisive moment in the war.
And Czech President Petr Pavel previously stated that Ukraine has not yet launched a full-scale counteroffensive, but the first operations of the defence forces in several directions are its “moderate beginning.”

During the day, 109 explosions were recorded in Sumy Oblast, as a result of shelling, private households, cars and outbuildings were damaged.

DETAILS: During the day, the Russians carried out 14 attacks on the border area. 109 explosions were recorded. Yunakivsk, Krasnopillia, Khotin, Bilopillia, Seredyna-Buda, Novoslobidsk, Velyka Pysarivka hromadas [administrative units designating towns or several villages and their adjacent territories] were shelled.
Yunakivsk hromada: shelling was carried out (seven explosions). Mortar attacks (five explosions) were also recorded. As a result of one of the attacks, two private households and one outbuilding were damaged.
Khotin hromada: 10 mines were dropped by Russians on the territory of the hromada. Krasnopillia hromada: there was a mortar attack (three explosions) and an AGS attack (29 explosions). Novoslobidsk hromada: a mortar attack was carried out (five explosions).
Seredyna-Buda hromada: Russians fired mortars – 12 explosions. Velyka Pysarivka hromada: there was a mortar attack (14 explosions).
Bilopillia hromada: shelling was carried out (13 explosions). As a result, a private house and a civilian GAZelle car were damaged. There were also mortar attacks (11 explosions).

The situation intensifies as Ukraine’s Air Force successfully downs four ‘no analogue’ Ka-52 ‘Alligator’ attack helicopters, dealing a severe blow to Russia’s air forces. With casualties exceeding 220,000 and losses of artillery systems, tanks, and drones, Russia faces significant challenges.
The Russian Defense Ministry’s tactics of concealing losses and deceiving citizens are failing. And over time, the amount of losses will eventually force them to brake. That will be the anticipated decisive point of the whole Ukrainian summer campaign.

Meloni and Macron confirmed further support for Ukraine at a meeting in Paris

Following discussions in Paris on Tuesday, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and French President Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed their intention to continue supporting Ukraine amid the full-scale Russian invasion.
As reported by “European Pravda” with reference to Rai News.
During a joint press conference, Meloni recalled the supply of the Franco-Italian anti-aircraft missile system SAMP/T to Ukraine.
“There is no doubt that Italy and France will continue to support the Ukrainian cause for as long as necessary, on all levels. If we do not, we will end up not in a world of peace, but in a much more chaotic world, where war is coming to our home.”, she emphasised.
In addition, the French president expressed gratitude to the Italian delegation for their support and collaborative efforts in providing assistance to Ukraine.
Giorgia Meloni’s visit to France on Tuesday marked her first since assuming office as Italy’s head of government in October 2022. Notably, relations between Paris and Rome were somewhat tense, primarily due to disagreements concerning migration policies and criticism of Meloni’s right-wing perspectives.
Simultaneously, following the meeting, Meloni informed journalists that “Italy and France are two allied countries, two important countries, central, protagonists in Europe, who should talk to each other at this time when our common interests are very similar.”
In response, Macron expressed his belief that Italy and France “can continue to move forward jointly in the coming weeks, months, and years.”
