Trump: ‘Not the time’ for Greene’s effort to boot Johnson as Speaker

Former President Trump on Wednesday said it was “not the time” for Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-Ga.) attempt to remove Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) from the top job in the House, warning the effort displayed “disunity” in an election year.

Trump gently criticized Greene, one of his most ardent supporters in the House, moments after the House overwhelmingly voted to torpedo the congresswoman’s measure to oust the GOP leader.

“I absolutely love Marjorie Taylor Greene. She’s got Spirit, she’s got Fight, and I believe she’ll be around, and on our side, for a long time to come,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “However, right now, Republicans have to be fighting the Radical Left Democrats, and all the Damage they have done to our Country.”

“With a Majority of One, shortly growing to three or four, we’re not in a position of voting on a Motion to Vacate,” Trump continued. “At some point, we may very well be, but this is not the time.”

I absolutely love Marjorie Taylor Greene. She’s got Spirit, she’s got Fight, and I believe she’ll be around, and on our side, for a long time to come.

However, right now, Republicans have to be fighting the Radical Left Democrats, and all the Damage they have done to our Country.

With a Majority of One, shortly growing to three or four, we’re not in a position of voting on a Motion to Vacate.

At some point, we may very well be, but this is not the time. We are leading in the Presidential Polls by a lot, both Nationally and in the Swing States.

Likewise, we are doing well in the Senate, and I believe will do well in the House.

But if we show DISUNITY, which will be portrayed as CHAOS, it will negatively affect everything! Mike Johnson is a good man who is trying very hard.

I also wish certain things were done over the last period of two months, but we will get them done, together. It is my request that Republicans vote for “THE MOTION TO TABLE.” We WILL WIN BIG - AND IT WILL BE SOON!

President Donald J. Trump~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THIS makes SENSE. TRUMP is RIGHT! Now is NOT the time!!
I hate being critical because I will get flamed endlessly and no one likes that but when is the “right time” ?
There will be further betrayals with this man in office and beholden to Democrats
Spot on! We don't need this infighting crap right now......
The MSM and the Democrats are loving this circus.
Given the hair's breadth majority, they're walking a tightrope regarding the catastrophe of a Jeffries speakership.
Trump is correct.
Without a supermajority in the House and Senate or majorities in both houses and the Presidency, there's little the Republicans can do apart from blocking Dem initiatives. That's actually a huge win, even if it's not nearly enough.
Why would you get “flamed” for being correct? Trump is NOT infallible, only God is. And your question is quite reasonable: if not now, when? I think Johnson is operating under threat but whatever his motives, he’s gotta go!
While I understand MTG’s sentiment- All this did was show Johnson that he cannot be touched.
If Trump thinks the congress is working with him.. Please check again. Bannon has been yelling at the republicans in congress doing NOTHING to support Trump. Either they have a reputation to protect, or they don’t want the dems to attack them for backing Trump.
Orsomething else. They have let Trump face it without them.
One more comment.. I am FOR MTG.
True that. And I suppose some minor nonsense is being blocked. But what major Dem initiatives are the Republicans blocking? Spending is wildly out of control. The southern border is wide open. Etc.
Johnson is busy shelling you. And will continue to do so into the immediate future.
It’s good to send him a message.
Best to not destroy him until after the election, but he needs to be on serious notice.
Honestly, if you’re critical you get flamed in my experience
It depends on the mood of the site and the temperature of the room
I agree with MTG AND DJT. He is showing a lot of class with his post to her but she’s got fire in her belly to try to hold Johnson to the conservative fire. It’s just not time for her to be doing this; there are alot of committee seats, etc., that we could lose (as I understand it) if the R’s aren’t holding the speaker seat.
It’s kind of like DeSantis running for president. He’d be a great one but timing was WAY off.
Nope...I'm inclined to agree with him. We're on a knife's edge right now and we're *this* close to Speaker Hakeem Jeffries. Kick *that* around in your brain for a while.
