EV bikes another pile of you know what , from using your body power to using power to charge it ,LOL

If you have a solar panel, you could capture some sunshine in a jar and save it to charge your EV if the battery is drained.

I like MGUY...he seems to know his stuff.
And he sure thinks the push for EV’s is an on-going disaster.

1) That’s a boring video
2) No, he does not have a science background. How do I know?
3) The use of the word EFFICIENCY.

Electric drivetrains are around 80% efficient converting electrons to motion.
Gasoline drivetrains are around 20% efficient converting gasoline to motion.

The problem is not the drivetrain, it’s the volumetric and weight ratio to amount of potential energy in the ENERGY STORAGE (for example liquid gasoline’s potential energy vs a lithium battery’s potential energy).

Now, why the big fuss about electric? Well, we have > 100% and no telling how much spent developing the gasoline engine, and it’s still 20% efficient. We have not spent much time on electric drivetrains (for cars) and they are 80% efficient. In fact they recently went from 50% to 80%.

Also, the battery (which determines the amount of electrons stored per cubic foot and per pound) has been improving at an astounding rate. Basically batteries before 1990 had not changed much from 1890.

There are battery technologies in the lab and in development that promise 3x the power ratio, faster charging, and longer life. If those come into commercial use at a reasonable price, you will have a car with 1000 mile range, that refuels in 20 minutes, and the battery would last longer than the car (10,000 cycles) - that’s 27 years of full charge/discharge EVERY DAY.

I don’t give a flip about the so called gloBULL warming, etc. It’s about the best car for the money - best performance, low maintainence, and reliability.

BONUS: Self-Driving will happen. I have an AI background (and a patent). And they will be way safer than you can drive.

So, where does the power come from to charge these EV batteries?

Even Musk’s self-driving is not self-driving . Those self driving taxis in San Francisco are getting confused and attacked by mobs ,LOL

I don't want safer. I want control.

true, but you have to make sure it is the right sunshine- winter sunshine is denser than summertime sunshine, so be sure to label the storage jars as either ‘winter’ or ‘summer’

Yes, this entire EV thing is a scam. It is beyond idiotic to be pursuing this.

They need to bring that old British TV Show "Danger UXB" back to life.

They could set it in Miami and call it "Danger lithium-ion battery UXB."

Each week they would portray a different home or business burned to the ground or a collision that caused the battery compartment to be compromised and ignites on the highway.

“Electric drivetrains are around 80% efficient converting electrons to motion.
Gasoline drivetrains are around 20% efficient converting gasoline to motion.”

Pure BS. You’re comparing apples with potatoes. You’re including the energy generator in the ICE “drive train”. If you look at only the drive train past the engine the efficiencies are not that different.

To do a fair efficiency comparison you have to include the efficiency of the coal fired electric generator to charge the batteries, the transmission losses, the charging and discharging losses, etc.

If you do that, the ICE is actually more efficient.

Dude, I don’t CARE if they burn whale oil or whatever for the power to charge the batteries. Didn’t you read I said it’s NOT ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING?
It’s about the BEST car, hands down.

Yeah, you want control, even when it’s not safer (when it gets safer).

Reminds me of people who can’t fly on airplanes because they are not in control.
Literally they miss out on life, and don’t realize the trip to the airport by car is more risky than the airplane flight.

“BONUS: Self-Driving will happen. I have an AI background (and a patent). And they will be way safer than you can drive.”

Self-driving cars have the possibility of systemic bugs in their AI. In other words, all cars of a particular model (and year) could have the same incorrect AI behavior which is a safety hazard.

We have seen this sort of thing often with conventional cars, where all instances of a model have a safety recall.

Human drivers all drive slightly differently and thus almost never suffer from “systemic failures” (DUI being one of the few exceptions).

Finally, “way safer” for whom? The occupants of the car (you and your family) or the DEI goals of the those who “train” the AI? (Have you looked at the rules by which software development, such as Google’s Gemini AI image generator, has been done recently?)
