Belousov says Russia must win in Ukraine while minimising casualties

Can Russia's main task is to achieve victory on the battlefield in Ukraine with the minimal loss of troops, incoming defence minister Andrei Belousov said on Tuesday.

-snip-

Belousov presented himself as a man of integrity, telling parliamentarians: "I have always been, and will be, guided by the reinforced concrete principle 'You can make mistakes (but) you can't lie'."

That was a pointed comment, given that he is taking charge of a ministry embroiled in a major corruption investigation that damaged his predecessor Shoigu. The scandal widened on Tuesday with the arrest of another senior official suspected of bribery.

-snip-

He said defence spending needed to be optimised so that "every rouble of budget money, which is ultimately paid by our citizens, brings maximal effect".

-snip-

Belousov said that Russia needed to work out "new methods of waging warfare" in order to stay ahead.

"The enemy is learning quickly. The situation related to the use of new technologies changes literally every week. And here we need not just to learn, we need to preempt the enemy."

Individuals in Russia pay 13% tax on annual incomes up to 5 million rubles, rising to 15% for anything over that level.

The Russian tax system tends to use moderate flat or regressive tax rates. It is highly centralized for a federal state and relies heavily on proceeds from oil and natural gas corporations, who themselves are mostly state owned.

I do not care what Putin does.

What does that equate to in terms of total percentage of income? A 33% increase on a 13% rate is only about 17% of income, low compared to ours.

Russia recorded a Government Debt to GDP of 17.20 percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product in 2022. Government Debt to GDP in Russia averaged 20.22 percent of GDP from 1999 until 2022, reaching an all time high of 92.10 percent of GDP in 1999 and a record low of 6.50 percent of GDP in 2009. source: Federal Treasury Of Russia

The US is the world’s biggest debtor nation.

United States Government debt accounted for 124.7 % of the country’s Nominal GDP in Mar 2024, compared with the ratio of 124.3 % in the previous quarter.

US government debt to GDP ratio data is updated quarterly, available from Mar 1969 to Mar 2024.

The data reached an all-time high of 130.6 % in Mar 2021 and a record low of 31.8 % in Sep 1974.

Russia would be well advised to end this war soon, rather than to let it fester with the addition of weapons provided by American taxpayers. Even at the cost of short-term casuslties. Casualty avoidance and victory do not work well together. Stalin knew this. Casualty-avoiding Israel does not.

Russians won’t feel a 33% income tax hike in their pocketbook?

I am not concerned about their pocketbook. I am more concerned with the rampant inflation over the past 4 years that has stolen 20% of my real purchasing power and even more than that for the costs of electricity, gas, and food.

Biden has borrowed over $200 billion to pay for the war in Ukraine. Waste, fraud, and abuse has cost the taxpayer over $400 billion in Covid money. We are running $2 trillion annual budget deficits and paying a trillion dollars each year in debt servicing costs. We add a trillion dollars to the $34 trillion national debt every 100 days. And I am supposed to worry about Russians paying 4% a year more in income taxes?

We have our priorities all wrong. Over 8 million illegal aliens have entered the country through our Southern border. 100,000 Americans are dying from drug overdoses a year. The economy is in shambles due to Biden's energy policies that are de-industrializing our country. We are living in a tyrannical surveillance state that is using the power of the government to deprive us of our civil rights. We have hundreds of political prisoners typified by the treatment of the J6 demonstrators. Engaging in endless wars that involve no national strategic interests weaken us.

The fools and knaves who are our leaders have betrayed the people. Biden's handlers are leading us over a cliff.

The only way for Ruzzia to ‘win’ is to end the war and leave Ukraine.

Lavrov has reported to the Duma today for his reappointment and answered that there is no diplomatic activity on Ukraine, that the Wwants to settle it on the battlefield and we are happy to give them their battlefield settlement.

The State Department requested safe passage by Blinkin via train from Poland to Kiev. He is inquiring about why the money disappeared, that Ukraine must last until November or risk confiscating of Zelensky’s overseas homes... Blinkin will tout Ukraine victory in a speech before departure.

AFU is breaking on four fronts.

Wouldn’t that be nice, Kiev in three days? Then the American Taxpayers might save on Ukraine’s paychecks.

What is more likely is that Zelinski will be gone on or about 21 May 2024. The failure to allow elections makes Blinkin’s “Rock’n in the Free World” so much hypocrisy it really drives home the point that we are losing the propoganda war. When Larlov returns to Kiev, they will be singing, “Back in the USSR”, and “My little Run, run runaway.

Kiev has said that this Kharkiv sector is the key to this war. Thus the moment is now. Russia is 5 km from cutting the main junction for logistics via rail and road. The fact that they are taking two key sections of Ukrainian logistical hubs in the Kharkiv region at the same time singals a collaspe of another 400 km in the Northeast.

How in the world did those Ukrainian commanders create ghost companies to disappear the fortifications and defensive systems, and nobody in the CIA force a course correction within the AFU? The United States has been very publically corrupt in regards to Ukraine since Biden held US funding hostage for Barmisma... But the incompetence of the US leadership allowing Ukraine to be defenseless in the key region.
