NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ A completed review of University of Oklahoma stadium surveillance tapes by the FBI did not spot Joel Henry Hinrichs III trying to get inside.

Hinrichs died Oct. 1 when explosives _ made of hydrogen peroxide _ strapped to his body detonated while he sat on a park bench about 100 yards from the stadium.

After a week of investigation, the FBI and OU continue to treat the death as a suicide by a troubled loner, rather than a failed terrorist plot.

OU President David Boren announced Tuesday the FBI was reviewing tapes from cameras in and around the stadium. The review is done and Hinrichs is not seen trying to enter, The Oklahoman reported.

Are there security cameras on the OK Campus monitoring the enterances to the football game.

Boren originally stated this:

"The FBI has obtained the security tapes from the stadium security cameras for processing their investigation.

“We do not have video cameras set up all over campus, but we do have cameras in certain buildings for the safety of our students,” Boren said.

Boren said the cameras are not widespread except for in places where there are valuable collections, such as Bizzell Memorial Library and the Oklahoma Memorial Union."

I doubt we will never know the whole story and Boren will make sure of that.

I would be great if we could get a photo of the stadium enterances to see if there are really cameras there...

No surprise at that.

Of course, all the area security tapes will wind up in a box next to the box that contains the some-27 security videos that have never been released to the media/public from the Murrah bombing .

I'm still amazed that the MSM isn't covering this story. A suicide bomber 100 yards from a full football stadium and the story gets virtually no air play. I don't get it. Guess they haven't found a way to pin it on Bush yet.

Dumb:

Dumber:

Yeah, right. Suicide. Stack him up over there next to that other suicide victim with two .57 magnum bullet holes in his head.

not that I understand a suicidal mind, but it seems like an awful lot of work to just end up blowing yourself up on a park bench

It always warms my heart when the FBI and a state university work arm in arm in a coverup, er investigation. :-(

Yes, hint, hint, it WOULD be important and very useful if some Freeper in Norman would do that very thing. It's amazing what a person with a camera, a pocket notebook and an inquisitive mind can accomplish. Verify, verify, verify. If someone did that much (photos of security cameras) it would be more than what was done during the investigation on the grounds.

They might want to bring a printout of this thread with them when they go do it. Otherwise, campus security or perhaps even the FBI is going to think they are casing the stadium for another attack.

I know they are not in the parking garages because my daughters CD player was stolen last spring and at the time OU PD said they are not allowed to have surveillance cameras in the parking garages or just put on buildings randomly around campus.

I knew they were at the Art Museum and Museum of Natural History and I learned from my son they are in the library but only where their expensive collections are located. You can see the ones at the Art Museum when drive by on Boyd.

Everywhere there is a surveillance camera on OU it seems to be visible from what I can tell being in these facilities. I have never seen them at the stadium -- that's not saying they are not there but he said earlier this week they were installing them at the gates.

Who knows what to believe?

I am going to drive by the stadium gate where I go in everytime to see if there is anything NEW been added. If they had cameras, they were hidden and OU usually doesn't hide cameras as they are in full view when you go in the buildings like the Art Museum and Natural Museum of History.

I speculated there were cameras because we have closed circuit TV for the concession area when this first happened but had never seen them. If they had any they would have been inside the stadium as the outer perimeter and facade were added with the remodeling and I don't remember seeing cameras there but I will go take a look today.

The student's father, Joel Hinrichs Jr., said the FBI has told him the bomb was made of concentrated hydrogen peroxide. Experts said explosives made with this common household disinfectant are highly unstable.

This is proof that the news media is just parroting what they are told. The bomb was not made of "concentrated hydrogen peroxide". That is one component used to make the actual explosive. Now I can understand the father getting it wrong, but all the news stories just quote him, without correcting the record. It would only take an extra sentence. But it's easier to just cut and paste from earlier stories and wire reports, rather than actually doing some journalism 101 type stuff.

You forgot to factor in the dumbing down of journalism factor. I daresay the cut and paste is journalism 101; the do-some-research method you seek is now a graduate course.
