Hmmmm.... Yeah, I'd better go out and buy some more guns. (Like I need an excuse.)

I would bet gun sales are up in most states outside of CA too.

This is quite a phenomenon since all the footege of the looters in NO ran endlessly on the MSM.
My niece and nephew in Florida, boomer peaceniks, went out and bought their first guns last month, and have been down at the firing range learning how to use them. They are well-off, and have a lot of property to protect. Never thought I'd see the day that they would arm themselves.
MSM are probably sorry now that they showed the chaos in New Orleans 24/7 for two weeks. It opened a lot of eyes of former no-gun people.
They'll never put that genie back in the bottle.

Unlike the New Orleans democrat party crime-fest, Mississippi and Texas Red State regions had low post hurricane crime problems. Actual photo tells all:

Most people in this country live their entire lives in condition white - totally oblivious to the potential risks around them. An event like Katrina and the chaos that followed was a real eye opener for many.
Even in an environment where the level of corruption and incompetence that was displayed by the authorities in NO is absent, the realization of just how thin that blue line can be is pretty sobering. People need to take responsibility for their own safety. Arming themselves is certainly an important part of that.
Having said that, as someone who lives in the Katrina zone and stayed through the storm, I have to admit to a certain nervousness as I saw the proliferation of "We shoot looters" signs pop up all over the place. Unfortunately, many of those who buy guns under these circumstances never bother to learn and train how to use these new weapons properly. Frightened people, firearms and an anything goes attitude is a dangerous combination.
