I would buy a motorcycle (preferably one that is a combo touring bike and dirt bike) and a 5 gallon can of gasoline.

Getting out of town in traffic seems to be the issue.

If you are referring to using a bike to avoid the Houston traffic problems your money would be better spent somewhere else.

Bikers could me a little more progress, but the traffic was so bad they were also stuck. Open doors and freaked out motorists made 'riding the line' impossible. If you tried to go down the median you were stopped by police and ordered back on the road.

I was thinking the same thing. In a pinch my moto could be used like that, but the dirt road bit might be rough going. Have to get some saddlebags though for any gear I need.
