These news articles don't match up. In one we see that the backpack was "detonated" with a water cannon - "A K-9 unit detected something in the bag which could be used to make explosives. So, the Cherry Point Marine Corps Bomb Squad detonated it with a water cannon."
Then in the article you posted they report - "no evidence of explosive materials were found" and again, "The local military bomb squad found no evidence of explosive materials."
As El Gato stated copper pipes can't "detonate" if there is no explosive material.
This leaves the question; was there or was there not a reaction from the "water cannon"?
These reporters, IMHO have to start getting their act together...
Done....welcome to the ping list, cf_river_rat.
LR: a "Suspicious Packages" ping list is a good idea but be aware though: you'll be really busy with all the stuff going on across the country :(
Thanks for the ping, freema. Please let me know if there is further progress to this story and I'll ping it out.
LOL....nice toon.
Unfortunately, you are correct...
It might be a full workload for a list like that! LOL
Anyway, I'll think about it over the next few days, and see how many respond with an interest (Freepmail me if anyone is interested in a "suspicious package" ping list).
I wonder how much copper scrap goes for these days.
