Uhh, no need to apologize. The loons were all over the place yesterday.
Grab the leash and kick his ass!
Woulda been good for a laugh!
Cook, of Longview, Texas -- she is not even from Norman or Oklahoman.
I was on campus yesterday afternoon and drove by Dale Hall -- must not have been a big demonstration because I didn't see a thing.
Most Oklahoma students wouldn't give this the time of day -- last time they demonstrated against Iraq War, the fraternities shouted them down along with the ROTC. Most of the kids go to class and could care less about the loud mouth leftist on campus.
We do not have a large presence of anti-war types -- our OU College Republicans outnumber the scummy party by about 5-1 if not higher then that.
OU is not a liberal campus and even when I disagree with Boren, he is NOT a liberal, not even close. I am getting sick and tired of OU being portrayed as this big liberal campus when it couldn't be farther from the truth. Oklahoma kids are not liberal by and large except for a few loudmouths. We have some great kids that attend OU including two of my own and a whole host of other kids in and out of the Greek system which is primarily Republican.
Most of the professors my kids have had have been a-political or ethics counts types in the journalism college. These demostrators are a small minority of loudmouths on campus when most of the student body could care less about them or their cause. I cannot remember one liberal professor they had that showed their true feelings to the students -- my son's Women in the Courts prof in the Honors Department was a conservative.
Rudy spoke at the Spring Convocation two years ago and we had members of the Faculty Senate nodding their heads in approval at his positive remarks about Pres Bush. Pres Boren endorsed our three very conservative Republican legislators (1 Senator and 2 Reps) in the last election against liberal Democrat women.
We have a large ROTC contingent on OU -- OU partners with the Boy Scouts and has for almost 60 years. That is not some liberal college and I resent the inference that it is.
bttt !!!!
Yeesh, it made me feel like Rip Van Winkle--like I fell asleep for 30-40 years and when I woke up, it was as if nothing has changed at all. Let's pray that none of this leads up to another Kent State, which is what they seem to want.
Unfortunately, my time at OU was dominated by those types, all in *my* chosen school, the J-school. The leader of the SDS was also the editor of the OU Daily at the time. I'd show up and they wouldn't give me the time of day, much less any assignments.
I'd waited all my life to go my beloved campus and enjoy my time there, but they caused me to hate it, as much as any schoolyard bully could have done. I transferred out to a much more conservative school, SMU, and majored in broadcasting instead. Luckily, over the years, I saw the changes in Oklahoma politics and in OU, living close by and getting to teach some classes there. It was gradual, but it did happen--even got to see my old fave Henry Bellmon back in the governor's mansion back then.
This doesn't make me feel any bad will towards OU, probably nothing ever could--except my one year there that was ruined by these lib hyperoids. I just hate what outsiders tend to think, like some of our posters here, calling it a cesspool. Believe me, it's not, and never will be. It is a world-class university, which is why the Enemy is trying so hard to destroy it.
Some people need to lighten up.....
Thanks for posting the story.
If Hinrichs were still alive, I wonder what he would have been doing this day.
