Justice dozes off during political redistricting hearing, colleagues let her sleep
Was it a case of dreaming of a better America, napping on the job, or just being asleep at the switch?
Serving on the highest court in the land is apparently a tiring affair for at least one Supreme Court justice who caught 40 winks on the bench, literally.
According to the Associated Press, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg snoozed during testimony today over political redistricting in Texas.
"The subject matter was extremely technical," notes AP writer Gina Holland, "and near the end of the argument Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg dozed in her chair."
During a report by Megyn Kendall of Fox News, an artist's sketch of the hearing was aired with Ginsburg's head using the bench as a pillow.
There was no word if there was any audible snoring echoing through the esteemed chamber, but the sleep session was noticed by Bader's colleagues who made a snap judgment to let their associate continue her slumber.
"Justices David Souter and Samuel Alito, who flank the 72-year-old, looked at her but did not give her a nudge," writes Holland.
"The bad news is, she eventually woke up....."
Breaking up laughing....
Isn't the Left always telling us that it's Justice Thomas who "doesn't ask any questions"?
I'll bet if someone started praying she would have woken up.
Well, except maybe for Souter. :)
MS. GINSBERG STOP. TIME TO RETIRE STOP. PLEASE STOP STOP.
Why is this not bigger news? God knows if Scalia did this, Kos would have 100 retarded diaries about it. I so hate liberal hypocrisy.
Ginsburg was born Joan Ruth Bader on March 15, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York.
2006 - 1933 = 73 years old in two weeks
She could also be in her mid-70s, and needs to retire.
"Well, except maybe for Souter. :)"
*snicker*
And he did the heavy lifting on Thomas too.
I think the judge in John Grisham's "The Pelican Brief" was modeled after her - old, tired, decrepit and very liberal.
Side note:
Just came from a meeting and someone already used the term: Pulling a Ginsburg" (someone was half asleep).
Did not take long!
I'll have to remember that one!
She woke up? You mean she now is a conservative who adheres to the original intent of the Constitution?
Yeah.
The old bag probably has senile dementia anyway - maybe she was born with it.
She has a face even a mother couldn't love. WOnder is she has kids? They would have to have been produced by artificial insemination.
I wonder if whatever ruling the court makes on the case that was being decided can be challenged because Ruth Buzzi Ginsberg was sleeping on the job?
BWAHAHAHAHAHA - I've been trying to figure out who Ginsburg resembles - you nailed it!!!! Still laughing.........
The same thing happened with Thurgood Marshall right before he was forced to retire.
"If someone can get a screencap, that'll be legendary."
I have Wednesday's version of Brit's show recorded and he does show the sketch. The pic has Souter, Ginsberg and Alito. Ginsberg has her head down on the bench and Alito is looking at her out of the corner of his eye.
Unfortunately, the recording is saved on my PC and I am not smart enough to figure out how to make a screen capture and post it.
Hey hole_n_one, can you help frankjr out with posting the screen capture? (see post #119)
I don't know anything about posting caps, but HNO is the king (or queen? LOL, sorry for not knowing) of screen capture.
