I think Stevens is going to retire. If Ginsberg's cancer is flaring up again that could well be two seats. Ginsberg may happen before the elections.The really sad part is by the time we get to those appointments, the press, the liberals, our own GOP people, and some Freepers might have weakened Bush so much he may not get who he wants.

That's what they've been aiming for isn't it?
I said right after Alito was nominated that Stevens is going to retire at the end of this session. You could see it in his face when he was with President Bush. He likes the caliber of judges Bush is nominating and, even though he's quite left leaning, it would matter to him that he is replaced with someone with those kinds of credentials.
I really don't think the media has done the damage it thinks it has. People are pretty turned off and by now they are tuning out. The red states are going to stay red, the blue states are going to stay blue, and the congress is pretty much going to remain as it is right now.
