Natalie Maines was recently interviewed by Chris Matthews and the following took place:

Matthews: "Well, who were the people that were, let me go back to Natalie, who started this all because you were the voice that spoke? Who went out there and really tried to exploit this against you? Were there any commercial forces that compete with you that said, here's a chance to bring down the Dixie Chicks and, and take the money they'd be getting? I know it sounds Machiavellian but that's the way I am. I'm thinking who is gaining by your demise?"

Natalie Maines: "Well, personally, I think the Right did. And I think it was originally started by the Free Republic. And they were very organized in calling radio stations across the country and telling them that they would never listen to their station, when they didn't even live in that town. And we knew that. And at the beginning our manager tried to explain that to some program directors and they were not willing to listen. And it looked like we were grasping at straws, so we just sort of kept quiet and let what was gonna happen, happen because they are a powerful, organized machine, and they wanted to take us down. And they did."

Matthews: "Were you blacklisted?"

Maines: "Absolutely. They have a hate list. They have a black, they have a list, and we were number one."

The only thing we did was post the phone numbers and email addresses of all the Country/Western music stations, as is our right. Boy, losing money has not gone over well with these girls. I thought they were proud of what they did! You either are or your aren't. They're concert Box office must have reallly sucked because all of this started recently. Nobody wants to see their stupid movie (and by the way, why hasn't Laura Ingraham sued over the name?) and after the liberal press gave them their initial boost, nobody really wanted them anymore. There is no list. The publicity pukes, Simon Renfrow and Ken Sunshine put out taht FR send emails with market specific info, but since I've been here, I've NEVER gotten an email from FR that I can recall, except for the initial registration reply. Nor have I gotten any "mailings" from FR via the internal FReepmail system.

Renfrow was blowing Sunshine up everyone's arse about an email.

We were discussing this on the Rush thread this morning. We all asked each other who had the list. Several people said they'd seen it at some point but didn't know where it is currently. One person said it was last seen on bar in the Levin Lounge just before the brawl that broke out there a few days ago. I admitted to having had an early copy of of it, but I used it long ago to line my birdcage. Another freeper checked with Karl Rove, but he doesn't have it.

We don't know where it is, but we're sure it's somewhere.
