Hopefully this article from the Tulsa World has not already been posted. The Tulsa World had this buried at the bottom of the back page of yesterday's World. This raises a lot of questions.

Just so you know....the Tulsa Squirrel is about as DimSocialistMarxistLyingLiberal a fish wrap out there...

I know a lot of us cringe when we see this kind of reporting, just last night I packed a box of military gear to give away, I still have 4 or 5 helmets I'm keeping.

I at least give the World credit for reporting this, even if they did bury it at the bottom of the back page. However, so far as I know the Oklahoman has not even reported it. I could be wrong about that.

Coming from a different perspective - I do believe Joel III was a lone nut, after lots of study of the case at the time - I'm not sure what to make of brother Tom.

He may be schizophrenic. The earlier article said that Joel Jr. (the father of Joel III and Tom) had both of them in psychiatric or psychological counseling for several years after high school.

Joel Jr. said that Thomas's mental health had deteriorated rapidly this past year, after Joel III's suicide by bomb.

As far as Islam and the whole family, I kinda don't think so. The dad is right-wing, registered (R), active in Lutheran church, formerly a writer of letters to the editor about conservative topics, and moved to CO Springs perhaps because his sister and her family live there.

The sister's family seems to be quite prominent around town, also in the Lutheran church - with grown children who all are married with children of their own, businesses and nice homes there. (One may be divorced.)

IOW, Joel Jr. has strong ties to the community and reason to conform. However, when Joel III blew himself up, it was reported that Joel Jr. and his wife, Joel III and Tom's mother, were divorced. That turned out not to be true - they were "separated." According to the CO files, they are still "separated," albeit now with a legal notice of same on file.

Tom claimed to "no longer be a citizen of the US" and wanted to be "deported to China," when this latest trouble was reported.

I'm not sure what to make of that, as I haven't seen any documented ties to China with anyone in the family, except in passing. Their mother is Jehovah's Witnesses, as is one of the daughters, maybe both.

One lives in a Chicago 'burb (the one I know is active JW) and one was a brainiac at MIT who was working on the human genome project and living in or near Santa Clara, CA, or thereabouts last year when I checked them all out.

One or both attended the international high school in Las Vegas, NM - and have a number of international ties. The Chicago one is a Spanish translater for Latin American clients and the other has actually traveled to China for math-type conferences.

I'll look over my notes again, but that's most of it, off the top of my head. I don't know how Tom might be connecting himself to China or Chinese ideology.

I also don't know why they persist in spelling his middle name Carlisle, when his birth record in CA is spelled Carlyle, like the English essayist ("All great peoples are conservative."), unless he himself has changed it.

He is allegedly mad about things that happened in high school to Joel III (I assume it was the year he had to spend in detention for bringing a weapon to school in the 8th or 9th grade) and perhaps to himself, as well - having threatened the HS principal there in CO Springs.

I don't think Tom went to HS there - will have to check my notes to see where he might have graduated, because they moved around a whole lot for a few years there, back and forth from Lisle, IL to SC - I think Charleston. He was long graduated from HS when they moved to CO Springs. (One note I had said that Tom Hinrichs in CO Spngs was registered Libertarian, but it was a different person altogether.)

In fact, it is standard Islamabomber SOP to prey on the outcast or the mentally weak in order to recruit suicide bombers. If you are going to try to convince somebody to blow themselves up with a bunch of innocent civilians, you have a big head start if you begin with somebody who wants to kill themselves in the first place.

I would not be surprised if Palestinians who want to commit suicide anyway are the main source of volunteers.
