...From behind the 8-inch concrete walls of their 110-acre hilltop compound...

Don't you just love the media's use of imflammatory adjectives?

Isn't the width of a standard concrete block about 8 inches?

So, I guess I live in a "compound" also. Come and get me coppers!!

Has the press called John Edwards 20,000 Ft2 place a “compound”?

More like conditioning the public for when the feds move in. Normal modus operandi for the feds.

No doubt. That makes almost every home in Albuquerque a compound. Every yard is fenced with cinder block.

Once upon a time I lived in my husband's grandma's 2000 sq. foot house. All the houses in the neighborhood were relatively the same size.

There was a news story of some woman who had set herself and children on fire. The media had found out she had attended a church meeting of my neighbors. (actually she had gone to a rummage sale they had held and had no connection to this church)

The media could find nothing on my neighbors. All they heard were praises on how wonderful these people were. So, as I was going out to the garbage a reporter asked me questions. Not being able to get any dirt from me either, she looked at my house and asked, "Is this a compound?"

"No. It's my house."
