Why I'm Nominating Leah Remini For a Profiles In Courage Award

I’m nominating Leah Remini for this year’s John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award. Let me tell you why.

For as long as I can remember I have been obsessed with the “religion” of Scientology. As a child I was a big fan of L. Ron Hubbard’s science fiction writing. My mom used to get me a subscription to Isaac Asimov’s monthly sci-fi publication and often there were short stories from Hubbard.

One day I mistakenly checked out his Scientology handbook “Dianetics” and while I was grossly disappointed to discover it was not the sci-fi romp I’d hoped for, it did launch my lifelong obsession with the weirdness that is Scientology.

By the time Leah Remini’s very public denouncement of her former religion came about I had probably seen or read nearly every available documentary or publication challenging the Church of Scientology (COS).

Interesting "expose" by Remini and her pal Mike Rinder. Still trying to figure just which battles dave miscavich (head cheese at COS) won all those medals for that he wears on his Captains dress blues uniform. Guess a lot of people are searching for something to belong to. The 'rlh' dude was just strange. Sounds like the COS needs to hook up with some enviro wacko cabal.

I agree. One thing I’d like to see more of on the show is Remini and Rinder boxing in operatives that follow them and put them on camera. “Hi! Why are you following me?” They have some of that but it’s always great to see more!

LOL! Yeah, me too. Too bad Remini and Rinder don’t have the money to toss around like the COS assclowns. Just watching the “sea-org” thing gives me the willies. Guess miscabbage has some muscle around in case someone decides to fight back when he smacks them around?

COS is very seductive. I was doing some channel-flipping and came across a show about how bad drugs are and how bad psychiatrists and psychiatric dugs are - most of which is true and I agree with.

It kept going on with no commercials and I thought, "Somebody is allowing this on TV?"

Then, I checked and it was the Scientology channel.

They almost had me sucked in.

In my town I think the COS is just empty and they pay for the building and someone to maintain it - just to keep pretending they have a presence. The google photos showing the inside just have tables, rows of VCR tapes and an e-meter.

I could have written this. My oldest brother was a huge Sci-Fi reader and had amassed a large library of paperback books. He (occasionally) allowed me to peruse his books and I came across the Dianetics tome, with largely the same reaction. I can't recall how many pages I read before declaring "This is crap!"

I almost agree.
However she threw Jehovah Witnesses in with Scientology a few weeks ago.

She must know something I don’t because I don’t think they are even similar.

At some point, the “Profiles in Courage” award will be given to someone who terminates the life of one or more conservatives.

“”This is crap!”” Sadly, I guess a lot of people that are looking to “find themselves” fall into the ‘crap’. It all sounds pretty evil to me. And, I’m sure they are bright and rich enough to counter arguments against them. Cha Ching!

I’m in LOVE with Leah Remini! Too bad she’s married. (so am I) DARN!

I like her show a lot too!

My sister is/was a Scientologist. She even moved to Clearwater for a few years, “Sea Org” ? I don’t know. I would guess, yes.

We don’t talk much, and NEVER about Scientology. She is definitely anti doctor and anti prescription medication.

My family has been watching this show of Remini’s and we deeply admire her courage in standing up to these thugs and bullies who harass and intimidate anyone who dares to stand up to them.

They’re especially evil to the people who try to leave their cult and that makes them similar to the Muslims who kill anyone who dares to reject ‘The Religion of Peace’.

When Katie Holmes broke up with Tom Cruise the Scientologists went to war against her and had an army of private detectives and “Sea Org” members following her around. Then one day she went outside her apartment to meet with the paparazzi and she pointed across the street to a car load of Scientology bastards and she sicced the media on them!

Good for her!!

And I also recall some interview where Tom Cruise admitted that Katie left him to protect their daughter Suri from that evil cult.

Again, good for Katie!
