Perhaps unconsciously projecting. These people really believe in the depths of their heart that they are building a new world. Nothing that advances that goal is off the table. For them it’s manifest destiny. They will have this and nobody will stop them. That’s the reason why they have no sense of irony in their posts and tropes. They truly cannot see it, it’s outside of their visual range. Like trying to see their own ears, they do not own a mirror.

If they knew what they were doing, if they were consciously lying then you would be able to detect it in their rhetoric. This is a firmly held religious belief in the unblemished virtue of their position. For them there is no virtue in compromise of any sort. They firmly believe that ‘Democrat’ means ‘democracy’. Anything that delays, tarnishes, uncovers, overturns or expose any part of the democrat implementation machine for them is a ‘Threat to’ or ‘is undermining’ democracy. Because for them ‘democrat’ is democracy and it is a worship word.

It would be unthinkable for them to change their minds. They would then become aware of the horror that they’ve perpetrated. Like their predecessors the national socialists when confronted with the ashen bones in the concentration camps. It’s not that they cannot see themselves so much as they fear the horror of acknowledging what they’ve done!
