Ukraine short of skilled troops and munitions as losses, pessimism grow

DNIPROPETROVSK REGION, Ukraine — The quality of Ukraine’s military force, once considered a substantial advantage over Russia, has been degraded by a year of casualties that have taken many of the most experienced fighters off the battlefield, leading some Ukrainian officials to question Kyiv’s readiness to mount a much-anticipated spring offensive.

U.S. and European officials have estimated that as many as 120,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed or wounded since the start of Russia’s invasion early last year, compared with about 200,000 on the Russian side, which has a much larger military and roughly triple the population from which to draw conscripts. Ukraine keeps its running casualty numbers secret, even from its staunchest Western supporters.

Statistics aside, an influx of inexperienced draftees, brought in to plug the losses, has changed the profile of the Ukrainian force, which is also suffering from basic shortages of ammunition, including artillery shells and mortar bombs, according to military personnel in the field.

They had a vid of a Ukrainian battalion commander in Bakhmut cursing out his superior saying his battalion had lost 160 men that day. It was interesting too because apparently slang for KIA is 200 and injured is 300, so the subtitler thought at first it was 160-200 dead, but just didn’t know the lingo.

Zelensky wants to make the Russians bleed in Bahkmut but the problem is that the Ukrainians are bleeding too.

That’s a shame. We should get ready to send the NAFO gang with blue & yellow flags for deployment to save the GloboHomo/Biden/Soros project.

Also, the only people fighting close quarters with the Ukrainians aren’t in the Russian army. They’re private.

Time for Democrats to mount up and head on over.

Funny, we’re short of taxpayers and munitions. Go fish.

I think Germany should step up to the plate and throw some big money for a while— maybe match the USA taxpayer has spent.

It’s actually tragic how many lives have been destroyed. Seeing men getting dragged off the street and sent into an artillery shooting gallery.

All so Kiev can continue ethnic cleansing in the Donbass and so DC can play grand chessboard games with Russia. For several years after the 2014 coup, the Donbass was content to stay in Ukraine as long as the spoke the native language they always had, and had the same rights. But Kiev outlawed their language, shelled them every chance it got, tore down their war monuments, forbade them from laying flowers are the graves of their WWII dead.

They are going to screw around, and soon Xi and the Saudis will talk to both sides and shut things down. Then their world influence will soar as we look like idiots given the back of the hand.

Bandera is smiling from hell.

They can. But why would they?

They’re still not paying their 2% to the UN.

Because some of their citizens seem to think it’s the responsibility of the US to endlessly spend on Ukraine.

Uppity and I’m sick of ‘em.

That’s why.

Childish? I don’t care.

The quality of Ukraine’s military force, once considered a substantial advantage over Russia

The incredibly stupid and ignorant people who stated this (many whom are on this forum) are largely to blame for Ukraine's demise and destruction. The window for Ukraine to negotiate with Russia was January-March 2022, but Ukraine and their benefactors rejected this opportunity, believing in their own hype and invinciblity, ignoring obvious facts like numbers of soldiers and machines. It was pure hubris. Throw Ukraine to the wolves.

Didn’t both Turkey and Israel try to broker peace deals but Washington and London said no?

The hate just seeps from you. You long for the death and suffering of millions of people. That is such an evil thing to feel. What did Ukraine do to you? They must have done something to you, personally, for you to spew such bile.

Take your hatred else where. And go to church and beg for God’s forgiveness.

Take your hatred else where.

I stand by my statement 100 percent. The ill-advised neocon Ukraine project (all the way from Obama and Vicotoria Nuland in 2014) has been a terrible debacle and you had a role in it.

Turkey in March 2022, and Washington and London said no.
