The nuclear threat has existed in Europe for decades and the F16s would not be the preferred delivery method. The Russians are, as usual, escalating their threats. After a while, it’s just noise.
So maybe not this particular time, but they are working on it. Each provocation is a little bit closer.
Indeed, albeit in this case it could well be noise that is not survivable.
This not a poker game between these supreme power holders and throwing more armaments into the to the pot seems very unwise.
Signalman got it right upthread in #6. For comparison, it would have been an efficient, strong nation that could have spearheaded a move that eliminated Hitler before he started WWII.
Actually it’s a deescalation, since the threat is coming from Lavrov not Putin. But you are right, it’s just more Kremlin noise.
BY the same token, the Russians are already using the MIG-31K to launch Kinzhal missiles against Ukraine. Kinzhals come in both conventional and nuclear flavors. Same threat to Ukraine as the Russians are complaining about here. So I think you are correct - the Russians are, as usual, escalating their threats, and after a while, it’s just noise.
You are insane.
