I predict that Judge Merchan is going to use his power to put a stop to it while he can.

My prediction is that Merchan will find that Trump violated his gag order. After Merchan reportedly had a meeting with the Secret Service and then softened his tone about jailing Trump, Merchan will order that Trump wear an ankle bracelet and restrict his movements to only go to and from Trump Tower and the courthouse, keeping him from going to pop-up rallies in New York City.

Merchan will further order that Trump must stop receiving guests like world leaders at Trump Tower (like the other day with former Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso) as if he were the real President-in-exile.

Once the ankle bracelet is attached, I think Merchan will also order that Trump can no longer give his mini-press conferences outside of the courthouse. Merchan will order Trump to only be allowed to move between Trump Tower and the courthouse with utmost haste without any delay or stops.

It's the only way they can have a plausible means of keeping Trump from campaigning during the trial, which was always their primary goal.

Merchan isn’t going to do that he’s partisan but he’s not stupid. To give Trump exactly what he wants having him restricted to Trump tower where he can’t do anything would be exactly what Donald wants.
