Here is how Republicans should play this out.

1. House of Representatives votes to hold Garland in contempt of Congress.
2. Speaker of the House demands that Garland recuse himself from anything related to the Hur report, including document charges brought by Jack Smith against President Trump until the Department of Justice makes the audio available to Congress or charges are brought by the DoJ.
3. Subpoena the Deputy Attorney General to appear before the committee to testify about conversations with Garland re: the Biden interview tapes.
