Greene signals possible offramp for Johnson ouster vote
The Hill ^ | 05/06/24 7:03 PM ET | BY MIKE LILLIS AND MYCHAEL SCHNELL

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) huddled Monday for almost two hours with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) — a marathon meeting suggesting the pair is seeking a deal to defuse tensions and preclude floor action on the Georgia firebrand’s resolution to boot Johnson from power.

The two emerged from the Speaker’s office separately but bearing the same message: The discussion was constructive enough that they’ve agreed to meet again Tuesday. Greene later told reporters the huddle will take place at 12:30 p.m.

Greene declined to say if she was ready to push through with her plan to force her motion to vacate resolution to the floor, but suggested she is seeking some assurances from the Speaker that he’ll fight harder for conservative policy priorities in negotiations with Democrats — the issue at the heart of both her criticisms and her removal effort.

“I have been patient, I have been diligent, I have been steady, and I have been focused on the facts. And none of that has changed,” Greene, who was joined by Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), another supporter of her resolution, told reporters after the meeting.

“So I just had a long discussion with the Speaker in his office about ways to move forward for a Republican-controlled House of Representatives. We’re talking to him again tomorrow, based on our discussion today.”

.....

“If this vote fails and the whole conference, the whole Congress, supports the uniparty, let me tell you something, that is not a failure, it’s a win for the American people, because that’s a list of names,” Greene later added. “They deserve that list.”

I’m cool with it. But only if he makes some VERY public and tough act of submission to MTG and MAGA.

There is so much corruption running all thru congress and government.. I don’t know if there is anyone left to serve the people.
Jim Jordan had been considered for speaker.. I haven’t heard a thing from him on this speaker. Have they all clammed up.. And why..
I value honesty and Johnson has failed that one. He is as bad as deep state..

She has no choice but to cave on this. Johnson’s problem isn’t the Democrats. It’s his fellow Republicans.

I may or may not have posted yesterday that it felt like they were after something to go away.

Their leverage is dividing us before an election.

Our universe knows Johnson is a duplicitous scumbag.

They undermined Pres Trump.

They consumed Whatley’s time.

The expected value of these antics is negative, believing otherwise means believing one is more informed than Pres Trump.

He had his chance to do that two weeks ago.

There being too FEW of them at the moment. Trump’s point made to MTG and Massie by Whatley the RNC chair who visited them. The RINO defectors are leaving their offices open- these need to be refilled and also demonrats kicked out of targeted offices across the country. It’s a big election.

It’s probably not either. It’s probably the Deep State with its “six ways from Sunday at getting back at you”.

MTG is beyond her depth. The UNIPARTY is NOT what the country wants...not one bit. This foolish chick needs a hormone check. The uniparty is the problem and she appears to be joining it, starting with her support of McCarthy- a huge mistake jumping in bed with him and Frank “Biden” Luntz. She’s not bright enough. Reactive, reactionary, not bright and zero long game.

“...And why....”

Hopefully they know that whatever happens must favor a strong and growing Republican MAGA party. To get the votes we must convince our MAGA Republicans, the moderates ones and the independents. Having a purity test will kill the MAGA movement. Once Trump is in office his leadership and the MAGA agenda implemented will draw many converts.

“They deserve that list.”

Well, yeah.

But we already KNOW it’s at least 90% of them that are lower than whale sh!t and dirtier than toilet scum.

And that’s just the Republicans.

What we will get from this vote is the spectacle of Democrats electing a “Republican” Speaker. And nothing could shed as much light as that.

Greene “signaled” several weeks ago that she would wait until after the election when they elect a speaker for the 119th Congress.

I am very disappointed with the Republicans in Congress. Too many are assistant Democrats. They will side with the Democrats on issues if Trump becomes President.

She needs to get her head out of her a**. This isn’t the time for this just before an election and if she doesn’t know that then she’s an idiot.
