It tries to minimize its enormous workload by giving lower courts the opportunity to settle a matter correctly.

Sure, but in a case where multiple states are abusing the legal system in a blatant attempt to interfere with a Presidential election, I think the SC can and should claim original jurisdiction over all the cases.

Good idea. However, in emergency situations, such as we now have in the USA, extraordinary measures must be taken. This will require great courage, intellectual and moral clarity, and sense of responsibility. Rising to such a challenge is difficult. Only the brilliant can understand it. Only the great can do it.
