Two hydropower plants in Ukraine were severely damaged and were no longer in operation after Russian bombardments earlier this week, the state energy company Ukrhydroenergo said Thursday.

"As of today all hydro generation has suffered devastating damage," it said in a statement on the Telegram messaging app, adding that significant financial resources and efforts would be required to repair the damage and restore the plants' operations. Ukraine plans to double electricity imports Thursday after the powerful Russian attack on Ukraine's energy system, the energy ministry said.

Rooters Sewer service dejectedly reports that Uke Nazi electricity takes two more hits.

The good news is Poland, Romania and Slovakia will make up for the shortage by limiting their citizens usage.

Interestingly, Rooters doesn't include the usual ten paragraphs of "Ukraine Winning" in this article.

I wonder why?

“Ukraine, a net power exporter before the Russian invasion in 2022, sharply increased imports of electricity and halted exports after a series attacks on the energy system in late March, April and May.”

Russia is making Ukrainians suffer power outages longer than even Californians experience.

What about their electric vehicles? Another reason not to buy one.

The Ukrainians will soon enough reciprocate. Hopefully they hit four of the Russian hydro plants and blow the dams as well.

This is nothing new. The Russians and Ukrainians have been going after each other’s infrastructure for a long time. Just sayin’.

““Ukraine, a net power exporter before the Russian invasion in 2022...”

VIOLATION!!! VIOLATION!!! VIOLATION!!! VIOLATION!!!

Reuters will have to do a lot of EXPLAINING now for this screw up. As we all know, the proper wording for the above is:
““Ukraine, a net power exporter before the FULL SCALE Russian invasion in 2022...”

Don’t be surprised to hear of layoffs at Reuters in the next week or two after this debacle.

Up until the last year or so it was mostly one-sided with the Russians hitting Ukraine and Ukraine being told not to hit back. That changed in the last year and now the Ukrainians are hitting things deep inside Russia and well away from the front.

Like you said, this is war.

You're nuts if you don't know it's the Russians holding back. They could easily takeout the entire electric grid in Ukraine. And, they should if Ukraine keeps launching attacks on Russia territory.

It doesn't matter how many Ukrainians die, how much land Ukraine loses or if it ends up with no electricity at all, fools like you want this failed proxy war to keep going until Ukraine is completely destroyed.

There is talk that the primary damage being done is to frequency management. The plants cannot maintain 50 or 60 Hz. As for importing, those towers won’t require 1000 lbs of explosives. Small drones can probably destroy the cabling

Nonsense. The Russians are doing everything they can to win this war. If they have not done something it is because they can't.

And, they should if Ukraine keeps launching attacks on Russia territory.

So the Russians can keep bombing the Ukrainians but the Ukrainians are not suppose to do anything in retaliation?

Yet your knees bang together in fear of Russia invading all of Europe. How many moons are there in your world?

You're the one living in a fantasy world.

The Russians intentionally decided to go with a slow, war-of-attrition, meat grinder approach. Why? Because 1) it saves lives and 2) they have huge advantage in ammo and missile production.

Ukraine is losing ground daily, at a much faster rate recently. That will continue until Russia controls everything east of the Dnieper river.

It's an incredibly stupid strategy because it guarantees Russia will hit Ukraine back harder.

You're too blind to realize that Russia must certainly can and will continue to takeout Ukraine's energy grid if there continue to be attacks on targets in Russia. And, eventually, all bridges over the Dnieper river will be targeted by the Russians.

The people in the annexed areas and Crimea don't want to be part of Ukraine again and haven't wanted to see the illegal coup in 2014. The smart thing to do is realize that and save what's left of the rest of the country, which Russians don't care about because it doesn't have a high percentage of ethnic Russians in it, by surrendering and agreeing to remain a neutral country.

Otherwise, the following is going to happen 1) Russia will take everything east of the Dnieper 2) Odessa and 3) and the war by taking Kiev. If the latter happens, Ukraine likely won't exist anymore. Poland, Hungary and Romania will scoop up what the Russians don't want.

Ruzzia can end this war and go home any time they want to. But until such time then they’ll continue getting killed for invading someone else’s country.

The Russians are trying to maximize Uranian soldier deaths while minimizing destruction of what is left of Ukraine. Taking the ruins of what was a city is pointless.
