Chicago police say a 13-year-old girl was shot by a car owner Tuesday morning while allegedly trying to steal the car.
Police updated information on the incident, saying that the owner shot at the 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy who was allegedly with her, according to ABC 7.
A bullet hit the girl “in the right side of her body” and she was taken to the hospital, where she was “in stable condition.”

Age and sex make no difference. A person committed a crime. Same penalty for all. Age/sex are no excuse.

You might not go to prison for knowingly shooting a kid stealing your car.

Depends on the local/state laws.
In most jurisdictions you can shoot to protect life and limb, but not mere property.
In most jurisdictions, you have to stop shooting the instant the threat to life and limb is over.
In many jurisdictions this would be a righteous shoot, but you'd still be apt to spend a night in jail while it gets sorted out, and it might take months to get your gun back!
LEGAL concealed carry people should join USCCA, as part of the membership they would get legal coverage.
But even then, remember that no one's life, liberty, or property are safe as long a court is in session!
