A report recently released by US News & World Report has revealed that Washington and Oregon are among the most dangerous states in the nation.

The report, which relied on the latest data from the Federal Bureau of Investigations for corrections outcomes and public safety, put Oregon, the Beaver State, in 46th place while its neighbor to the north came in 39th.

According to the data, Oregon had an incarceration rate of 295 per 100,000 residents, and a juvenile incarceration rate of 121 per 100,000 juveniles. The violent crime rate sat at 342 per 100,000 residents, slightly lower than the national average of 381 per 100,000 residents.

While the state was only slightly below the national average when it came to incarceration and violent crime, its rate of incarcerated juveniles was three times higher.

Washington had an incarceration rate of 174 per 100,000 residents, and a juvenile incarceration rate of 38 per 100,000 juveniles. The violent crime rate sat at 376 per 100,000 residents, close to the national average.

Given that so many criminals are allowed to be released after horrific crimes, can you imagine the crimes of those that ARE actually locked up in prison.

A very, very long time ago I lived in Washington in Olympia and Tacoma and for a while went to church in Portland, I can tell you that the liberals who populated those areas didn’t anticipate this back then.

Perhaps so. But they are responsible (I presently live in Olympia)

Unwritten here is all the crimes which are either plead out or not charged at all after arrest.

Incarceration rate is just a snapshot of what’s really going on and doesn’t even address the white-collar corruption in Salem.

Yeah, like walking through the Capitol building.

Or finding a dead illegal on your property and reporting it.

In a truly just society, your conclusion would be accurate.

With the current government we have, not so much.

Liberals live in a delusional world where people do bad things because of their circumstances, not because they are bad.

They have the mindset that people are inherently good and want to do good, and given the chance, will choose to do good, so the liberal mindset to to improve their circumstances by giving them everything and voila' people will do good.

It's very out of touch with reality.

Eastern Washington suffers from all the Hispanic drivers. 9/10 fatal car crashes involve some with a Hispanic name.

Actually, for all the media hype about drugs, riots, and homeless in Oregon, the crime rate in two categories tracked by the FBI are lower than they were from 1979-2000.

The Violent crime rate per 100,000 is lower. 1979(545) 2022(342)

The Property crime rate per 100,000 is lower.1979(5827) 2022(2935)

Most of the recent crime wave is centered in a city with a lot of problems that won’t be resolved anytime soon.(Portland)
The Portlander became dependent on migrants moving into their shithole city no matter how crazy the city was becoming.....but the trend has flipped and mass migration out is the new trend.

The state is full of old people dying off and young people not reproducing. The death rate passed the birth rate within the last 5-7 years for the first time in state history.

So the high juvenile crime rate is a bit perplexing.
