The legislation deletes more than 50 lines of previous state statutes dealing with climate change.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed legislation (HB 1645) on Wednesday that will erase several instances of the words “climate change” from state statutes and restructure the state’s fossil fuel-based energy policy that listed climate change as a priority when making energy policy decisions.
The priority now is to ensure “an adequate, reliable and cost-effective supply of energy for the state in a manner that promotes the health and welfare of the public and economic growth,” as spelled out in a legislative analysis.
“Florida rejects the designs of the left to weaken our energy grid, pursue a radical climate agenda, and promote foreign adversaries,” DeSantis said on X on Wednesday afternoon. The message included a statement reading, “Radical green zealots want to impose their climate agenda on people through restrictions, regulations, and taxes.”
Among the parts of current law that will be removed are a provision for addressing “the potential of global climate change” as a state energy policy, and a provision for the state to “play a leading role in developing and instituting energy management programs aimed at promoting energy conservation, energy security, and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.”
The legislation prevents local governments from enacting some energy policy restrictions.

Hehe.
Best governor in the country. Keeps racking up wins.
Doing what he should have been doing in the first place. Make Florida Great, Run for President in 28’.
one republican who gets the left and how to deconstruct them.
DeSantis is notching up some wins for Florida and for the Nation by setting an example. It’s good to see.
But I thought he was a deep state RINO.
Good move by DeSantis.
Other Republican Governors should follow.
It’s great to see what good one can do when not on a Quixotic quest to run for President. I’m glad to have him back!
I’m sure some on here would be perfectly happy to tell us how “the meatball” actually screwed us over with this move, in their minds.
He should make hay while the makin’ is good.
He has a supermajority in both houses of the states governing body.
I’m sure some on here would be perfectly happy to tell us how “the meatball” actually screwed us over with this move, in their minds.
I’m a Trump guy, because it’s his time, and he was cheated.
I hold no ill will against the Governor for giving it a shot. It was just ill-timed, and somewhat disloyal.
He’ll be in the mix in 2028 for sure.
49 Govs to go!!
They could, but they wouldn't like my solution, as it would eliminate corporate and real estate taxes while extending the sales tax to cover all goods and services. The real contribution to residual pollution nowadays is overconsumption, not necessarily fossil fuels, plastics, or other conveniences. Think "all you can eat shrimp" at the failing Red Lobster chain.
OTOH, these same global warmunists would be happy to keep on taxing real property, as well as introducing an income tax and increasing the corporate tax to be more "fair," as well as attacking fossil fuels directly, even though CO2 is plant food.
BTW, a bill was actually introduced in the Florida lege for the express purpose of studying replacement of real estate taxes with a consumption tax. The only problem is that with all this inflation, people will not want to have more cost tacked on to their goods and services right now.
That will be fine with me. Make America Florida Again 2028!
49 governors should follow!!
Well said, we definitely need him here for the next 4 years. I’m on board, if he runs in ‘28.
DeSantis haters show up in 3, 2, 1
I don’t live in Florida, but wish I did!!
I can’t believe how so many freepers trashed him when he was running.
He would (will?) make one of the best president ever!
There were a few trolls and many weak minded parrots.
Nice work, Gov. DeSantis.
