CA: Immense budget quagmire full of oddities and contradictions

Gov. Gray Davis is making much of the deep slashes in state spending, particularly for schools and local government aid, that he's making to close a multibillion-dollar budget shortfall.

There's little doubt that if his budget plan is enacted, not only would Californians be paying billions of dollars more in taxes, but fewer slots would be available in college, K-12 classes would become more crowded, fewer poor people would obtain health care, and some city and county services would be abolished.

And so it goes in the late, great state of California.

post the results of Joe Davis' systematic screwing of
California. Keep it up - we all need to watch as the
scab is pulled off, over and over again.

I know three young, bright and talented special ed teachers who were fired on Friday, in San Clemente. Burnt-out teachers remain, grateful for tenure and unions. Kids hurt. Davis survives day after day.
QUESTION: Why has the media not labled California 'Bankrupt'? Like that would be news to Wall Street!?
