DOES KUCINICH PLAN THIRD PARTY RUN?
Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) -- running for President as a "peace candidate" -- is currently seeking the Democratic nomination. What seems to be slipping under the political radar is the real posibility he ultimately will continue his campaign as a third party candidate in the 2004 race. Former Green Party nominee Ralph Nader is one who has openly praised Kucinich's progressive campaign, stopping just short of making a full endorsement of his candidacy. Most likely, however, is that Kucinich could end up as the nominee of the Natural Law Party -- a party advocating a ban on genetic engineering of food and the use of holistic meditation as a way to end war and conflict. The NLP -- founded and led by followers of purported cult leader Maharishi Mahesh Yogi -- won ballot status in 39 states in 2000 for NLP Presidential nominee John Hagelin. Kucinich gave a speech in February to party leaders at the NLP national headquarters in Iowa. In response, the NLP's official website now solicits contributions and support for Kucinich. "I strongly support Rep. Kucinich in his bid for the presidency. America urgently needs a powerful peace candidate today -- one who can unite the nation for peace. I believe that Rep. Kucinich can achieve this crucial goal ... The Natural Law Party dynamically supports Rep. Kucinich and his peace candidacy," wrote Hagelin in a NLP email sent out last week.

Make that the Communist Party.

Hell, a nod from Nader and the desire to put us back in the stone age sounds like a strong recommendation to me.

This guy said in an interview last night that there is no evidence that Iraq has WMD. Inspections were working, but not because there was a threat of war and a huge army massing at Iraq's borders. He said the inspections were working because of the mere fact that they were back inside Iraq. Oh, and the whole Iraq war is based on a lie so he doesn't believe any poll where it shows 70% support for the war.
You can always tell a leftist when they care more about the process than the results.

I not only hope he plans to run, I hope he does it! I hope Nader runs as a fourth party candidate and Sharpton as a fifth party.

I think the Democrat Party, such as it is, is going to have an increasingly hard time holding together the loose confederation of special interest groups that make up it's base.
Often these groups are at odds with each other (the Black-Jewish rift for example).
As the real extreme lunatic fringe groups attempt to accend to a position of power, and fall in behind lunatic candidates like Kucinich, they expose and destroy the carefully crafted illusion of the DNC that they are a "moderate New Democrat party". There is already evidence that moderate elements like some Jews and Hispanics are increasingly feeling alienated by the loons.
Also the "Franklin Roosevelt" patriotic Democrats are dying off, leaving the Viet Nam era clowns in charge of the circus.
We should do everything possible to promote and encourage people like Kucinich, Sharpton, McDermott, and Kaptur to speak out and present themselves as the true face of the Democratic Party, which in fact they are.

Cool. A lib "Perot" would seal the deal, (not that it isn't already a given).

I'd love to grab Kucinich by those big goofy ears and go "three stooges" on him big time.He can embarrass himself as much as he like and as long as he like. He's gonna be toast soon.I will contribute to any (R) who runs against this little tird.
To: GiveEmDubya
He can't win the nomination, and the Left base won't vote for anyone else.
Look for a "yes"

I'm just excited about the possibilities...
Bush gets renominated (unless unforseen things come to pass) easily.
Dems nominate any one of a bunch of losers.
Kucinich takes a good part of the commie vote from the Dems.
Sharpton (fingers crossed) runs as an independent and takes the black vote.
Nader either teams up with Kucinich or splits the left even further by running as a Green.
Bush wins a Reaganesque landslide.

Prediction/beliefs:
- Kucinich was encouraged/ordered to run by Bill, Hillary, and McAuliffe.
- Kucinich will do well in the Iowa caucuses and the NH primary, which are dominated by far-left activists.
- Frightened Dems looking for a "moderate" choice will BEG Hillary to run.
- If W is riding high, Hillary will keep her powder dry until 2008. Dennis K or whoever wins the nomination will be the 2004 sacrificial lamb.
- If W appears to be weakened by economic problems or difficulties with the Iraq occupation or North Korea, she'll take a shot and blow away the rest of the weak Democratic field. Don't tell me she can't win--the electoral map gives her about 200 nearly-automatic votes.
- Kucinich will NOT make a third-party run, and hints to the contrary are pure disinformation.
