Ron Paul Blimp Flying Over Raleigh
Raleigh Chronicle ^ | 12/14/07 | Elliott West

Posted on 12/14/2007 12:00:40 PM PST by this is my name not yours

RALEIGH - No, you're not imagining things. That really is a Ron Paul for President blimp flying over the City of Raleigh today.

Organizers for the blimp took off this morning at 8am at the Airship Management Hangar in Elizabeth City, North Carolina and they are on their way to Chester, South Carolina where they will make their first stop.

This afternoon, the blimp will be flying over north Raleigh and will most likely be visible from Interstate 540 at some point, said Bryce Henderson, a media coordinator for the effort.

Organizers say the current schedule has it passing over Raleigh at 1 pm, Greensboro at 3pm, Charlotte at 5pm and landing in Chester, SC around 6pm. The blimp will spend the night in Chester and then head to Columbia, South Carolina in the morning.

Organizers say that the public can follow along on the inaugural trip as the blimp’s coordinates are relayed to www.ronpaulblimp.com via GPS and a live camera feed will also be inside the blimp’s cabin, broadcasting events in real time to www.justin.tv.

Organizers cautioned that the are assuming weather conditions are agreeable.

"Simply to take the blimp out of the hanger requires the wind speed to be under 15 knots," said orgnizers in a statement to the media.

Supporter for Ron Paul, who is running for President on the Republican ballot, raised the close to $300,000 necessary to place the advertisement on the blimp. Ron Paul has been in the news quite a bit lately as a candidate who has gained much momentum via the Internet. His supporters recently made over $4 million in campaign donations in one day at his website.

Trevor Lyman, who was one of the key figures behind the massive Ron Paul fundraising effort, also helped organize the blimp trip and will be on board.

...anyway, they are PISSED OFF over there (RonPaulForums) about how it looks, that it isn’t flying where they wanted, and the delay (not to mention cost).. a lot are asking how to get a refund.

LOL - perhaps this whole thing is on the verge of imploding?

Come on now. Half the elderly are planning on voting for this doddering old man because he played DA Arthur Branch on Law and Order.

I used to be a Thompson supporter, but after the poor showing at the debate, I've had enough of him. It now seems obvious to me that the only one I will be able to stomach voting for is Ron Paul.

Lemme guess ... you used to attend a small, midwestern college, and you never thought this would happen to you. You were sitting in the library, and Ron Paul walked in, and he looked HOT in a skimpy halter top....

Secondly, 99% of us who are "Republicans" are for SMALL government, me especially.

LOL...perhaps 40 years ago

The ULTIMATE goal of every, single Libertarian is the complete removal of government eventually. No controls on anything, no laws at all.

Do you really believe this? If you do, you are lying to yourself, if not, you are just plain lying

I DO have a problem with posters who say things that are blatantly untrue.

hmmm...problems with yourself, methinks

I can't see how you twist common sense, constitutionally limited government into anarchy. You seem to be exhibiting intellectual dishonesty

I was pulling for Fred until the time of the first debate, back in October. After that debate I realized Fred probably wasn’t going anywhere and I started to take a hard look at some of the other candidates. In the next debate, I thought RP hit a home-run. I don’t remember the exact quote, it was something to the effect of us not being able to support big government here and overseas at the same time (in reference to the war in Iraq). He’s right. I voted for George W. because he railed against all of Klinton’s foreign adventures in Kovoso and Somalia. 10,000 Somali’s aren’t worth the blood of one American G.I., and neither are 10,000 Iraqi’s. If the people in the middle east want democracy, let them fight for it themselves like we did 230 years ago. I support kicking the crap out of Al-Queda (Afghanistan) over 9/11, but what I don’t support is endless wars and occupations in the name of ‘regime change’. Ron Paul is the only Republican candidate who echoes my sentiments. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

I posted evidence.
Look it up

He posted back in November who he was for. He joined the site as a “disgruntled Republican”. That’s lying in my book. IF you, or he, or anyone else thinks otherwise, then try actually UNDERSTANDING what a Republican actually is for and isn’t for.

Then try reading up on Libertarianism....

He’s lying through his teeth with the “I used to be for Thompson” NO WHERE in his posting days has he ever shown this to be true, and instead has posted several things showing he’s a dyed in the wool Libertarian.

And as far as Paul goes, he may WANT to “shrink the government domestically” - which I AGREE with, but, it’s also a FARCE to say “Get out of Iraq” when our job is NOT finished there.

My “accusation” stands. A personal ATTACK occurred on each and every single individual here when he made the audacious claim of “I used to be” a Thompson supporter.

I don’t appreciate people pretending to be something they aren’t, and there are a lot of such persons on this site... one post wonders, liars, and sock-puppets visiting this place. We’ve got more than our fair share of morons claiming to be “Misplaced Republicans” who are merely here to throw wrenches into the works.

This isn’t a Leftist site, and it sure as hell isn’t a Ron Paul support site. Have you BOTHERED to read the online polls on this site for the past few months? Who’s been coming out on TOP in EVERY SINGLE POLL of “Who would you vote for if?”??? Fred Thompson. Not Ron Paul.

So, your opinion counts for absolutely squat on “personal attacks”.

And his opinion of Ron Paul counts for nothing with me as well, because of his veiled attacks on Thompson “Because he USED” to support Thompson.

That is above all, intellectually DISHONEST, that makes him a LIAR in my book. Dishonesty is lying.

I love Ron Paul’s domestic policies. He is just way out in left field when it comes to foreign issues. I could not vote for someone who will not stand up to America’s enemies.

The most important issue to me (as far as the presidential race) is to elect someone who will preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution.

Ron Paul would definitely preserve, protect and defend the Constitution more than any other candidate. My problem is that I don't think he'll defend the country. He's not soft, he just has a strategy that I think is suicidal.

It’s a shame I didn’t get out to see it here in Raleigh. But I work right next to the airport so it couldn’t have flown over here. Have a few friends in the Charlotte area that hopefully will get to see it.

Really? Your posting history says otherwise.

I haven’t swallowed anything. That is insulting.

I certainly will not swallow the belief that Ron Paul is capable of being the commander in chief.
