I posted that election equipment should under go the same process as gaming machines do. The source goes to the Gaming Control Commission. Their experts scrutinize it, compile it, and all machines that go into casinos have to have sw/firmware where the delivered device’s sw/firmware matches the checksums of the master copies or they don’t get installed.

The problem is what actually runs in the machines is never verified that it came from that audited source. They could show anything to the auditors. It like some company having two sets of books, one for the auditors and the real ones.

Consider those audits as the same as some annual vehicle inspection. It only proves at that point in time, everything was “proper”. The very next day you could cut off the catalytic converters, crack the windshield, install bald tires and then actually drive the car like that on the road for the next 364 days. But you would have a passed inspection sticker on the windshield.
