The researcher shows a baby a photograph of a person. Then the baby is shown both the picture again alongside the picture of another person. How long does the baby stare at the original picture (i.e. recognition) compared to the new one.

The oldest child born during the pandemic would be about 17 months old. Many are less than one year. Too young to do more than babble. I would not be surprised to find that these kids are behind the curve. It just seems a bit premature to draw hard conclusions and the term “IQ” seems a bit much to describe what you’ve mentioned.

This “study” sounds like hogwash to me. The shutdowns began about 1 1/2 years ago. How much data could they even gather on babies who are slightly less than 18 months old?
Oh, but we must take babies out the home! We can’t have them cared for by their own parents, who are their best teachers and caregivers.

My son is only in 2nd grade and he knows more math, science, and geography than the average 6th grader.
If we survive this, he’ll be leading these fools that are being born now.
Of course we may be immigrating to South America before long, so that will make his leadership over the dummies even easier.

I would assume in each of the groupings by calendar year the distribution of kids by age in months are similar.
Do a search on what a 16 month old child should be doing.
It is early so they may catch up, but they may not. I am surprised because I would have thought the kids would have had more interaction at home with parents and siblings than day care.
This article is BS. You can’t get an accurate IQ rating at two years old. And, as they get older, their score will go up.

The study included 672 children from the state of Rhode Island. Also, the study has not been peer-reviewed.
Sounds like an attempt to shame mommies and daddies who have discovered that staying home with their sweet little ones is preferable to dumping them in the kiddie kennel. Don’t they know the State is a better parent???
You must be careful about studying cognition in very young children. Even good psychologists can get this wrong. My brother was diagnosed as mentally retarded when he was very young and wound up as the class valedictorian at a very challenging high school.
