WARSAW, Poland (AP) – Poland is investing about $2.5 billion to step up security and deterrence on its border with Russia and its ally Belarus, the prime minister said Saturday.
Donald Tusk said work on the Shield-East project which includes building proper military fortifications has already begun. Poland is on the eastern flank of NATO and of the European Union and Tusk stressed it bears additional responsibility for Europe’s security.

Let’s see here, if I’m not mistaken France had a fortified border keeping the Germans from invading them. Oh wait a minute, the Germans just went around the fortified border.
A fortified border is a good idea, but not the answer to any country that wants to invade.
I honestly do not think Russia’s military is a match for anything the West has. I don’t think Poland is one of Putin’s targets.
Poland will eventually do something stupid and then a whole bunch of countries will defend their stupidity.

Poland has a reputation for being right, in both a political/social and argumentative sense.
President Duda has been the very model of a conservative leader, protecting his nation and its culture in such a way that all FR can only wish were the case of a US leader.
It therefore boggles the mind that a US right wing person can be opposed to Poland and the Polish people.
And at Kharkov the Russians crossed a few km over the border and... what?
Pray tell, what route would Russia use to attack Poland if Russia does not attack from Belarus or Kalingrad?
Go through Latvia and Lithuania, bringing NATO into the conflict a minimum of a few weeks sooner?
Go all the way through Ukraine to its North-Western oblasts? Hot progress would be about a km a day...
The situation does not remotely mirror France in WW2.
Poland will not be a target of Pooty precisely because Poland is rapidly building up its defenses in all ways except going nuclear. Well, at least I don’t think they’ll go nuclear...

Not all “US right wing persons” are what they claim to be. And some are just dupes.
It is true Tusk is socially liberal compared to Duda. But when it comes to defending vs. Russia, there is not so much space between them.
It appears Russia is just trying to tie up Ukrainian manpower.
Ukraine will likely respond by employing several thousand more female drone operators and even more female drone builders.
When he was campaigning against the previous, socially conservative, government, Tusk said building a wall was against human rights.
The Russians aren’t quite as Christian as you say. Furthermore their armies in Ukraine have large Muslim (20% of the Russian population) and Buddhist Tubman, not to mention rampant atheism.
Utter nonsense. Greece, Romania, Bulgaria are strongly Eastern Orthodox and they are part of the EU
