Fico has a lot of almost bizarre stances, like going easier on corruption.
He also did a bit of a flip and dropped opposition to Slovakian manufacturers selling weapons to Ukraine. I’m betting “money talked” in that one, which makes the corruption “softness” even more, uh, interesting.
People in the US who think they understand Euro politics generally have a VERY shallow and / or incomplete take on them.
(I don’t claim expertise either [!], but am pretty good at spotting some of the occasional “oddities”.) :-)
