President Joe Biden said Friday he was both "not surprised" and "outraged" by reports of the death of Alexei Navalny, the longtime Russian opposition politician and critic of Vladimir Putin. Russia's Federal Penitentiary Service announced Navalny died in prison. The service claimed Navalny, 47, lost consciousness after a walk but gave no official cause of death. "Russian authorities are going to tell their own story," Biden said in remarks delivered from the Roosevelt Room. "Make no mistake: Putin is responsible for Navalny's death."

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito is paying a price for authoring a draft opinion that was leaked last week in which he and four other justices appear to be on the verge of overturning the Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion. For the sake of safety, Alito has reportedly been moved to a location that will not be revealed, according to Breitbart. Last week, Alito canceled an appearance at the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals’ judicial conference. Although no official reason was given for the cancellation, the move came only days after fierce protests greeted the leak of...

Dominican Republic Bishop Víctor Masalles described some of the international pressure the country faces to legalize abortion and write LGBT 'protections' into law.BANÍ, Dominican Republic (LifeSiteNews) — Legislators in the Dominican Republic “received a warning from the American embassy that if they don’t legalize abortion” and write LGBT protections into law, “they’re gonna be without visa[s],” one of the nation’s Catholic bishops said. Bishop Víctor Masalles of the Diocese of Baní told LifeSiteNews that the pressure the Dominican Republic is facing to legalize abortion is intense. President Biden is taking a long weekend at the beach, which must be nice for him. But in Afghanistan, the ramifications of his disastrously executed US withdrawal remain a terrifying daily reality for the tens of thousands of people he promised then failed to evacuate. The administration is clearly hoping that voters will turn the page on this issue; the sooner they forget about the ongoing national humiliation, and the thousands of Americans stranded in a terrorist-controlled country, the better. But even if much of the media moves on, that doesn't change the reality of what's happening on the ground....

WASHINGTON—The U.S. military said Friday that it mistakenly killed 10 Afghan civilians, including seven children, when it launched a drone strike on a car in Kabul last month, and missed its actual target, militants who were thought to have a car bomb to be used in an attack at the city’s airport. It was a reversal of the Pentagon’s position on the Aug. 29 strike from just days ago, when military officials said they believed that the strike was justified. Military officials said then that civilians may have been mistakenly killed, but that Islamic militants had been stopped. Chairman of...
