"...But don’t come crying to me a year from now because of your taxes going up to pay for reparations, Muslim indoctrination in your kid’s schools, and the martial law that President Obama declared after the gun confiscation riots."

Nice Fearmongering. You certainly sold me. I am sure glad you came out swinging with your best argument.

    Never mind, Rick.

I did not realize I was speaking with someone who does not listen to others and their viewpoints, but rather someone who prefers to paint with a broad brush and lacks the spirit of compromise, compassion and understanding.

You can spare me the history lesson too, you know nothing about myself or my works

Secondly, 99% of us who are "Republicans" are for SMALL government, me especially.

    LOL...perhaps 40 years ago

The ULTIMATE goal of every, single Libertarian is the complete removal of government eventually. No controls on anything, no laws at all.

Do you really believe this? If you do, you are lying to yourself, if not, you are just plain lying

I DO have a problem with posters who say things that are blatantly untrue.

    hmmm...problems with yourself, methinks

I can't see how you twist common sense, constitutionally limited government into anarchy. You seem to be exhibiting intellectual dishonesty

    Interesting....

First off "American" is not synonymous with residents of the USA...It does not happen as much these days, but I have been in other western hemisphere countries, and the residents identify themselves as Americans...South Americans, Central Americans, North Americans, Pretty much the whole new world and it's inhabitants are "American". Was a day that WH residents of countries other than the USA took great umbrage to USA citizens attempt at using the term American exclusively for themselves.

besides what didthe "A" in "CSA" stand for?

On another note, speaking to the South not letting go ("save your confederate money boys" attitude):

I was at a 4th of July picnic in a park in the highlands of South Carolina. The band played dixie and and some other southern treats...after a few my uncle stood up, between songs, cupped his hands and yelled:

"NOW PLAY ONE FOR THE WINNIN' SIDE"

I still LOL thinking about that.

once again, it is all about your feelings, and you refuse to speak to the main points.

fod, who asked YOU for your psychological analysis?

you are in a public forum, deal with it

I was enjoying the conversation until someone started calling me a moron, twice! And now I'm being called a whiner. How do you expect to have a conversation with someone when you keep flinging names at that person?

Sorry, you were not debating of conversing, you were expressing your feelings

And in case you haven't noticed, this is a CONSERVATIVE site, not a Libertarian site, not a Liberal site. A Conservative site.

Uh, friend, have you bothered to look around? Why is an RLC contingent hosted/ tolerated here. I am not card carrying member of the RLC, but I am active with them.

Since you don't like our Conservative ideals, you shouldn't even be on this site - go find a Libertarian or a Liberal site.

First off, you do not control access here, and I have been a long standing member here and I have never been warned or asked to stop my actions by the gracious host here, and I still donate on occassion.

I do participate in libertarian forums, but that is like preachin to the choir, and the few times I have gone to liberal websites, you would be amazed at the reception I get when I speak of small governmant and responsibility of the individual. I have a thick skin and I have seen and lived pretty widely, but the hatred and vitriol that is spewed at libertarians at some of these sites make some of the more rabid anti-libertarins here at FR seem simply kind, gentle and downright quaint.

you are coming off like a intolerant liberal again--with the equivalent of sticking you fingers in your ears, teling me to go away...lalalalalalalaly

    Enough with the insults already.

Sorry there Friend, be nice, be good and set a good example!

No matter how you slice it, I live by very conservative ideals...Not the ideals of the neo-con, or quasi-con or RINO that populate this place. If republicans did more than pay lip service to liberty, I would still be one. I'm all about responsibility and self determination.

You may of mistaken me for something else because I am very tolerant of others and their ways, as long as they return the favor. We have to be and the Thomas Sowell quote I offered you earlier in the thread (which you ignored)summed it up very well.

It is the whiners who pressure lawgivers to tidy up their neighbors yards that give me fits. It is the tendency for government to gain ground and for liberty to lose ground. I am just a guy who has decided to join a admittedly small minority and dig in my heels and say no more to folk like you who think government is the solution and the answer to social ills is just to have more of it. Good grief man, look at what the progressive era has brought, and its great society sequels, and every one of those programs, from welfare, gun control, income tax, public schools et.al. All of these are socialist programs. Some are devisive and some YOU admit to embracing. Arguing to prohibit something you do not like, only open the doors for someone else to prohibit something they do not like about you and your life.

I read thru this thread again and you come off like many liberals I know, offering up up feelings and innuendo, with a lack of facts and with a disconcerting lack of reason.

A wise man once said that liberty means responsibility and that is why they dread it...

now read every thing I said again, ignore it, and just tell me to go away.

    RE: DC

He may be correct. You come off as ill advised and contradictory almost to the point of hypocrisy. Your personal page here would lead one to suspect that you are a lover of liberty, but conversing with you makes one think that you are more of a lover of the progressive era and its present nanny state hangover.

That, and you seem like a thin skinned whiner. Oh well, it will just give you fuel to complain about those meanie libertarians that made you (hopefully) second guess your principles, but most probably just raised your blood pressure and made your head heart.

By "you morons" I assume you mean schools, which, in case you've forgotten, ARE run by the government. Schools used to teach morality and manners, etc. Now they are pushing the opposite agenda - immorality, homosexuality, day of silence, abortion, etc. So, yes, at this point, it is no longer the job of government to teach morals. It is incapable of doing that anymore.

Uh, government was never cabable of compulsory morality, and goverment schools a did not exist until the late 1800s and really got going good in the progressive era.

You seem like someone who is arguing that government is the solution. If that is the case, I suggest you take a good, close look at your principles.

One last thought for you to ponder, my friend, from one of my favorite conservative thinkers

What is ominous is the ease with which some people go from saying that they don't like something to saying that the government should forbid it. When you go down that road, don't expect freedom to survive very long.
    --Thomas Sowell

I don’t think the framers of the Declaration of Independence had the drug culture in mind when they wrote that, do you?

No,but they were famailiar with licentious behavior and morals...

What it boils down to is: how many exceptions to liberty do you want to come up with?

if you want to wrap yourself up in bubblewrap and strap on an air filter to leave the house, great!

Sorry, but freedom is messy and you won't always agree with your neighbor or how he lives and what he consumes. Freedom is not being free from things that offend. A lot of tolerance as well as compassion is needed. Force of law does not stop stupid, self damaging, behaviors.
