Sixth Column, also known under the title The Day After Tomorrow, is a science fiction novel by American writer Robert A. Heinlein, based on a then-unpublished story by editor John W. Campbell, and set in a United States that has been conquered by the PanAsians, who are asserted to be neither Japanese nor Chinese. Originally published as a serial in Astounding Science Fiction (January, February, March 1941, using the pen name Anson MacDonald) it was published in hardcover in 1949. It is most known for its race-based premise.

Plot summary
A top secret research facility hidden in the Colorado mountains is the last remaining outpost of the United States Army after its defeat by the PanAsians. The conquerors had absorbed the Soviets after being attacked by them and had then gone on to absorb India as well. The invaders are ruthless and cruel. As an example, they crush an abortive rebellion by killing 150,000 American civilians as punishment. Noting that the invaders have allowed the free practice of religion (the better to pacify their slaves), the Americans set up their own church in order to build a resistance movement – a “sixth column”, as opposed to a traitorous fifth column.

The laboratory is in turmoil as the novel begins. All but six of the personnel have died suddenly, due to unknown forces released by an experiment operating within the newly discovered magneto-gravitic or electro-gravitic spectra. The surviving scientists soon learn that they can selectively kill people by releasing the internal pressure of their cell membranes, among other things. Using this discovery, they construct a race-selective weapon that will stun or kill only Asians.”

“Submission Information
Persons subject to reporting.
As stated in Vol. 83, No. 19 of the Federal Register dated Monday, January 29, 2018, the
Department of Commerce and the National Atmospheric and Administration requires that
persons who engage in weather modification activities in the United States shall provide reports
prior to and after the activity. This is Section 6(b) of Public Law 92–205.
All non-Federal weather modification activities must be reported to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce,
via the NOAA Weather Program Office. All reports submitted to NOAA are compiled and then
posted on the
NOAA Library Website.
Activities subject to reporting.
(a) The following, when conducted as weather modification activities, shall be subject to reporting:
(1) Seeding or dispersing of any substance into clouds or fog, to alter drop size distribution,
produce ice crystals or coagulation of droplets, alter the development of hail or lightning, or
influence in any way the natural development cycle of clouds or their environment;
(2) Using fires or heat sources to influence convective circulation or to evaporate fog;
(3) Modifying the solar radiation exchange of the earth or clouds, through the release of gases,
dusts, liquids, or aerosols into the atmosphere;
(4) Modifying the characteristics of land or water surfaces by dusting or treating with powders,
liquid sprays, dyes, or other materials;
(5) Releasing electrically charged or radioactive particles, or ions, into the atmosphere;
(6) Applying shock waves, sonic energy sources, or other explosive or acoustic sources to the
atmosphere;
(7) Using aircraft propeller downwash, jet wash, or other sources of artificial wind generation;
or
(8) Using lasers or other sources of electromagnetic radiation.
(b) In addition to the activities listed above, other similar activities falling within the definition of
weather modification as set forth in
§ 908.1
are also subject to reporting.
(c) The requirement for reporting shall not apply to activities of a purely local nature that can
reasonably be expected not to modify the weather outside of the area of operation. This exception
is presently restricted to the use of lightning deflection or static discharge devices in aircraft,
boats, or buildings, and to the use of small heat sources, fans, fogging devices, aircraft
downwash, or sprays to prevent the occurrence of frost in tracts or fields planted with crops
susceptible to frost or freeze damage. Also expected from the requirement for reporting are
religious activities or other ceremonies, rites and rituals intended to modify the weather.
(d) All activities noted in paragraphs (a)
and
(b)
of this section are subject to initial reporting.
However, after the Administrator has received initial notification of a planned activity, he may
waive some of the subsequent reporting requirements. This decision to waive certain reporting
requirements will be based on the general acceptability, from a technical or scientific viewpoint, of
the apparatus and techniques to be used.
(e) Other reporting exceptions may be made in the future by rule of the Administrator.

“Angels Don’t Play this HAARP: Advances in Tesla Technology” is so good it’s scary. Or maybe it’s a scary subject done well. Either way, it is an extremely well researched and investigated exposé. The HAARP project in Alaska is like a giant Swiss Army knife of death and destruction.

We should realize that the first edition of this book came out in 1995. That was before HAARP (in its current form) was even completed. Begich and Manning were all over this very early on. Dr. Begich has a very deep and well respected knowledge of these types of technologies.

Begich and Manning lay it all on the table. They write about HAARP’s origins and history. They write about the HAARP facility’s ability to: generate earthquakes, modify the weather, control people’s minds, map the Earth’s interior, generate ultra-powerful laser like power beams, transmit wireless power, and more. Sure, these technologies can be used benevolently, but when they are in the hands of our military, the emphasis is on killing people and breaking stuff. We’re concerned that these technologies are being used against the American people.

“Angels Don’t Play this HAARP” is a great example of good old American muckraking journalism from a very capable duo.

The High-frequency Active Auroral Research Project was named to be misleading. It was evidently hoped that those who did recognize that word “auroral” would accept the idea that the University of Alaska is studying the aurora borealis. However, if that is so, a huge amount of money is being channeled into studying a light show. Could this naming strategy deflect attention away from a deeper and hidden reason for HAARP? That is, weapons development for the military? The funding makes far more sense in that context, not to mention attempts to conceal said funding.

When some people first hear about HAARP, they may default to the possibility that whoever is speaking about it may have fallen victim to yet another Internet hoax. In my opinion, this mid-nineties non-fiction research classic puts the hoax-as-only-story possibility firmly to rest. Begich and Manning do not approach this topic as speculation about who may be behind the dubious activities behind the fence, but they do point out that HAARP is part of a global cooperative effort. The facility in Alaska is not the only ionospheric heater on the planet. So it’s bigger than weapons development by the US military alone. It is also copiously documented that official sources have repeatedly lied to the public about exactly what is going on. Some of the possibilities that electromagnetic manipulation can target certainly sound outlandish, so it’s obvious why some dismiss the entire topic of HAARP as being a gullible tin-hat wearer’s hobby du jour.

Did you know that there are rivers of electrical power flowing through the sky? Nikola Tesla knew, and he wanted to harness that power to serve mankind. However, the scientific patents and procedures that eventually developed appear to be now in the service of other motives. My perspective, after reading Begich and Manning, is that if you want to read an Internet hoax, there are mentions on the web debunking the idea that HAARP is in any way a conspiracy. The debunking is the hoax.

I will close with a quote from the last chapter: “The breakup of the sciences into ever narrower specialties has made it difficult for specialists to synthesize a wide range of facts about our planet and come up with wisdom.” Enough said.
