Officials in Baltimore County, Maryland, helped a convicted illegal alien sex offender evade deportation for weeks by suspending his prison sentence and setting him loose into the community, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials say. Raul Calderon-Interiano, a 25-year-old Guatemalan national, first arrived at the United States-Mexico border near Laredo, Texas, as an unaccompanied alien child (UAC) in June 2014. Calderon-Interiano was subsequently given a Notice to Appear (NTA) in federal immigration court at a later date.

The Wall Street Journal has an article this week on the grim job market for computer science majors...Students were told the myths about the great shortage of computer workers and they responded by flocking to computer science programs. Now they are discovering that the shortage claims were a sham when they apply for after-graduation jobs. [Link to WSJ article in Comment #1 - my computer hits a Pay Wall]

A teenage Venezuelan migrant has been arrested for allegedly shooting two NYPD cops while on a scooter after they tried pulling him over. Police approached Bernardo Raul Castro-Mata, 19, as he drove the illegal vehicle the wrong way down a one-way highway in Queens overnight. He allegedly responded by opening fire on the officers using an unlicensed gun before fleeing on foot at around 1.40am, NYPD said. One officer was struck in the leg while the other sustained a shot to their bulletproof vest. Although Castro-Mata has not previously been arrested in New York City, police believe he is part...

For the first time, Mexican nationals could cast a vote in person at consular offices around the world, in a historic election where the country is set to elect its first woman president. Voters will decide whether Claudia Sheinbaum, aligned with the left-wing party Morena, or Xóchitl Gálvez, with the...

The Biden administration is doing an end-run around the nation’s immigration laws — by giving migrants work permits in record numbers. Since President Biden took office, more than 3.3 million migrants have been given a Employment Authorization Document (EAD), commonly known as the federal work permit, even though many didn’t even legally have the right to be America. And as of February of this year, pending EAD applications stood at an another 1.4 million. In many cases, migrants are given the right to work before they are even given asylum, a green card or other legal documentation that allows them...

Foreign workers protesting the P.E.I. government's recent immigration policy changes say they've agreed to pause their no-liquid hunger strike after meeting with the province's top immigration official. One of the protest's organizers, Rupinder Pal Singh, said he met on Friday with Jeff Young, the director of the provincial Office of Immigration. Singh said Young encouraged the group to put a hold on its hunger strike while the government considers their demands. "They have all the information that they require; now we are just waiting for answers. As the government is cooperating with us, definitely we will be doing the same...

The Biden administration is planning to refer some migrants in Latin America for resettlement in Greece and Italy as part of another effort to discourage people in the region from traveling to the U.S.-Mexico border, two people familiar with the government's plans told CBS News. The initiative would involve Greece and Italy welcoming migrants processed at immigration offices that the Biden administration set up last year in four Latin American countries to screen migrants who hope to reach the U.S., the sources said, requesting anonymity to discuss arrangements that have yet to be announced.

Dozens of foreign workers protesting changes to P.E.I.'s immigration strategy are on their fourth day of a hunger strike in downtown Charlottetown. The provincial government is cutting back on the number of workers it is nominating for permanent residency this year, from about 2,100 to about 1,600 — with a big drop in the number of hospitality workers in particular. More than 800 were nominated last year, and the plan is to nominate just 200 this year. Jaspreet Singh Sivia, one of the people who have been speaking for the protesters, accuses the government of changing the rules for people...

The “massive immigration wave” on President Joe Biden’s watch is straining public schools across the United States, the Wall Street Journal details. Since 2021, the Journal reports, “as many as one million children … have arrived with their families or on their own” to the United States, most through the nation’s porous southern border where nearly eight million migrants total have been encountered thus far under Biden. As a result, public schools where migrant children are resettling have been hit with financial and staffing burdens they have not experienced before. Specifically, the Journal chronicles the school district of Stoughton, Massachusetts,...

Joe Biden and his regime have had over 3 years to secure the border, which they intentionally chose not to do. After all, this is their future voting base. Democrat Senator Chris Murphy was on CBS’s “Face the Nation” with Margaret Brennan on Sunday to discuss the border. Being a typical Democrat politician, he gave excuses for the border and even blamed President Trump and the Republicans for the border crisis. “The President could take executive action and has been talking about it since back in February when Homeland Security Secretary mentioned it was being considered. Should he just get...

President Joe Biden is blaming record-setting levels of illegal immigration to the United States on congressional Republicans, suggesting they are standing in the way of “border enforcement.” On Thursday, a bill to expand legal immigration while permitting tens of thousands of migrant encounters along the U.S.-Mexico border failed in the Senate by a 43-50 vote.

Canadians born abroad who have children overseas will be able to pass along their citizenship under legislation introduced in the House of Commons on Thursday. Immigration Minister Marc Miller tabled the legislation, which aims to close loopholes that have created so called “lost Canadians” — people with ties to the country who are unable to pass along their citizenship to their children. Under changes brought in by Stephen Harper’s Conservative government in 2009, Canadians born abroad could only pass along citizenship to children they had in Canada. The change had followed Ottawa evacuating people from Lebanon during its 2006 war...
