A new article out from Politico reveals that a select group of lawyers and legal pundits have been working behind the scenes to quash a Trump second term using the media. They've been sharing narratives, honing points, and working together to "intellectually stress-test the arguments facing Trump on his journey through the American legal system." The names of those who have been at these meetings are all too familiar and their tactics mirror those undertaken in 2020 to manipulate media to sway the presidential election in Biden's favor. A group began meeting weekly in 2022, every Friday, on Zoom calls...

I Used to Write for Sports Illustrated. Now I Deliver Packages for Amazon. Austin MurphyAuthor and longtime Sports Illustrated senior writerHoliday parties were right around the corner, and I needed a cover story. I didn't feel like admitting to casual acquaintances, or even to some good friends, that I drive a van for Amazon......Let's face it, when you're a college-educated 57-year-old slinging parcels for a living, something in your life has not gone according to plan. That said, my moments of chagrin are far outnumbered by the upsides of the job. There's a certain novelty, after decades at a legacy...

For the second time in as many weeks, President Barack Obama returns Thursday to a favorite setting — a big rally on a college campus. But Bowie State University, where the president will appear, is a far different setting than the University of Wisconsin, where a get-out-the-vote rally last week drew 26,000 supporters. The historically black Maryland college is much smaller, and officials expect around 5,000 people to attend the rally. The event will take place in the heart of Prince George’s County — a relatively affluent, predominantly African-American community. And Obama, whose approval rating among black voters is a...

I'd suspect many of you have been reading these "did the GOP peak too early?" analyses. I find that I don't have that much to say about the issue. It's all sort of speculative, it's all based on polls. I can read them as well as the next person, and several of them (even Rasmussen) show the GOP lead diminishing. But who really knows.
  • O'Donnell's Oxford (latest)

Christine O'Donnell has denied that she created the LinkedIn profile that said she went to Oxford. Now the DNC is circulating another online resume for her making the same claim, this one with a "user verified" tag. The resume isn't a carbon copy of the LinkedIn profile, but it does give her a "Certificate , Post Modernism in the New Millennium, University of Oxford." Snarks DNC national press secretary Hari Sevugan: "Apparently they don't teach Google at the Fake Oxford University."
  • What The White House Wants To Say, But Can't (Taking on Sarah Palin directly)

So here's the scenario. The Democrats who craft political strategy for the party have tried to figure out how to somehow use the Tea Party moment to provide an advantage to their base. When the Tea Partiers, collectively, are in economic libertarian mode, Democrats can't make much noise. But when Tea Partiers are in "elect someone like Christine O'Donnell mode," Democrats sense an opportunity. Simply put, the crazier the Tea Party seems, the more Democrats can link the Republican agenda to its source of energy, which in turn fires up rank-and-file Democrats. At this point, you're probably saying... "Thank you,...

If President Barack Obama needed any more incentive to go all out for Democrats this fall, here it is: Republicans are planning a wave of committee investigations targeting the White House and Democratic allies if they win back the majority. Everything from the microscopic – the New Black Panther party – to the massive –- think bailouts – is on the GOP to-do list, according to a half-dozen Republican aides interviewed by POLITICO. Republican staffers say there won’t be any self-destructive witch hunts – but they are clearly relishing the prospect of extracting information from an administration that touts transparency....
