Bob Bergdahl Praises Allah & Obama Hugs Him … Update: Praises Son’s Work to Help Afghan People(?)

Yesterday, Jani Bergdahl and Bob Bergdahl, the parents of U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, were invited to the Rose Garden of the White House in Washington DC. Bob Bergdahl spoke about the release of his son Bowe. Then he praised Allah and Obama hugged him.

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)

Sgt. Bergdahl, 28, had been held prisoner by the Taliban since June 30, 2009.

The Daily Caller reported:

At the end of brief event, the soldier’s father, Bob Bergdahl, recited the most frequent phrase in the Koran — “Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim” —which means “In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Compassionate.”

After Bergdahl finished his statement and his praise for Allah, Obama hugged him.

Then Bob Bergdahl went and deleted this tweet where he wrote “God will repay for the death of every Afghan child, ameen!”

UPDATE: On Sunday Bob Bergdahl said he was proud of how his son Bowe was willing to help the Afghan people.

“But most of all, I’m proud of how much you wanted to help the Afghan people, and what you were willing to do to go to that length,” Bob Bergdahl said, fighting back tears during a press conference in Boise. “I’ll say it again: I’m so proud of how far you were willing to go to help the Afghan people. And I think you have succeeded.”

Parents Bob and Jani Bergdahl didn’t elaborate on what that meant.

That’s just bizarre

These people are unhinged. And, no, I don’t give them the benefit of the doubt for “what they’ve been through.” Millions of American parents, including my own, have gone through the stress of having their sons at war, without being fools.

Man, I seem to be the chief Bergdal apologist tonight. Well, to continue,

I think most troops see themselves as helpers of the Afghan people. I don’t find that statement as illegitimate or suspect. We didn’t go over there to hurt them. We see ourselves as liberators of a very oppressed people from the Taliban, do we not?

FWIW, George Washington would probably have traded 5 British Soldiers of any rank to get Benedict Arnold back from the British.

Of course the difference is that George Washington would have hanged Arnold instead of throwing him a party.

I doubt that is what is meant here. Context, man, context.

“Context, man, context.”

I watched the video.

My impression was of parents who seem to think they are dealing with a very fragile person.

Why is he fragile?

Because he lost his mind? I have no reason to believe that, or not, but that’s how they’re talking. Or because he has suffered torture/brain washing/trauma during the last five years and they’ve been coached on how best to approach him? I find that the most plausible reason.

They are obviously very emotional and love their son very much. I did not pick up on any “American Taliban” vibe, but more like some very traumatized and loving parents were trying hard to communicate in a very specific way to their probably messed up son.

So that explains why the father learned to speak Pashtu?

So far I haven’t noticed any RATs condemning 0bama for
politicizing” bowe’s “rescue” with PR antics using the parents as props.

This article sounds like he had lots of issues even before he joined the military.

Today the American people are pleased that we will be able to welcome home Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl,.His recovery is a reminder of America's unwavering commitment to leave no man or woman in uniform behind on the battlefield. - Obama

Our nation has a sober and solemn duty to ensure that every single American who signs up to serve our country comes home - Kerry

Really? I guess that doesn't include U.S. Marine and Afghanistan war veteran Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi who has been rotting in a Mexican prison since March for accidentally crossing the border with guns in his car. He has been almost killed once while in prison and he was chained to a bed ( both arms and legs ) continuously for 30 days. You pieces of sh*t have not lifted one finger to get him released.

“So that explains why the father learned to speak Pashtu? “

Were my son reliably reported to me to be conversing exclusively in Pashtu or however you spell it, and was a POW, it would be a strong incentive for me to learn it.

I don’t find it odd. I would find becoming a Muslim odd. Why on earth would a serious Christian father turn Muzzie when his son is a POW of Muzzies? It makes no religious or practical sense.

“have you read the Rolling Stone piece on this guy?”

No, I must say I have not. Do you find Rolling Stone reliable? Serious question, not sarcastic. They are a very liberal outfit.

..... I certainly hope that our Intelligence Community is researching the possibility that he may be a turned asset and may be now a Taliban/Qaeda asset currently being used in a planned operation on American soil. The timing of this as well as the events leading up to his release are certainly suspect.

Agreed, I have read of some “issues” prior to his enlistment; I don’t know if they are fair or true or not.

On the theory that they ARE true, it would explain why the parents are walking on eggshells talking to their son on that video. That is my impression, that in their extreme emotion they are being very careful what they say and how they say it. Like they are afraid of saying the wrong thing and messing him up.
