The Fuel Tax Protests In France Remind Us That 'Climate Change" Is A Pro-Big Business Scheme

"We have to worry about the end of the month....12 times a year"

"Yellow Jacket" Protester In France Explains That While Others May Worry About "The End Of The World" The Protesters Have More Immediate Worries

They say that "pro-business" French President Emmanuel Macron is out of touch with the "little people" with his massive increases in fuel taxes that burden the average people. Taxes that are imposed in the name of "going green".

Today Macron was saying the taxes need to be fairer, but he was insisting that they must go forward.

The French fuel taxes and taxes imposed in other countries like higher utility bills in Canada in the name of "climate change" remind us of the harsh truth about "climate change".

The issue is really one of political leaders and business leaders creating a "crisis" to justify higher taxes on little people while big business-big corporations enjoy "carbon credits".

Otherwise liberal and progressive people who might not like "big business" are hustled into tax schemes that put the burden on the average person instead of the big people and big business.

It was former Walmart Chairman Rob Walton (son of Sam Walton) and former Walmart CEO Lee Scott who were big champions of "sustainability", the company's belief in man-made climate change.

When conservative shareholders showed up at the annual meetings to challenge the company's policy, they answered the accusation of the company going "to the Left" by saying that Walmart's policy supporting the notion of man-made climate change would make the company more profitable.

And that's the way it really is when it comes to "climate change" and Emmanuel Macron's fuel taxes in France and "climate change" taxes wherever they are imposed.

It's a trick to fund welfare states with taxes on the backs of the little people.

Here in New York, gas is $2.95/gallon. Yes, we have leftist social-engineering schemes here too

I don’t understand why they claim “big business” benefits. Higher gas prices hurts everybody and the only “winner” is big government.

Cry me a river. $1.349/liter CDN for regular.

That works out to $3.84 USD/USG.

Who gets rich with higher taxes at the pump? Big Business?

Gas in Chicago has dropped by at least 40 cents per within the last two weeks.

Any effect from France would be with a lag. But when it kicked in the higher tax will cause less gas to be used which would make the world market for oil have more supply than usual. Prices should drop given that scenario. Not much though.

$1.85 in San Antonio today. High test $2.35 a gallon. I love the price, but my energy stocks are in the trash.

Unbelievable, Canada has massive oil reserves. Gas should be 1.25 a Gallon. What have folks done to yourselves?

I disagree. It’s not about supporting big business.

It’s all and only about the fraud. The “scientists” playing at this know they’re lying through their teeth. Same for the politicals, wakademics and msm drones.

They know.

The whole point of AGW or Global Warming, or Climate Change is to steal as much money from the tax payers as possible *and* acquire more power through corruption and purposely false legislation.

There is nothing honorable involved at any level.

There is no one innocent involved at any level.

It's a trick to fund welfare states with taxes on the backs of the little people.

Such was always the case.

Lots of those involved are very good at deceiving themselves.

Federal tax, provincial tax, transmission tax, regional taxes, carbon tax.

Then, after all these taxes are rolled into the price of the fuel, we get to pay GST (General Sales Tax AKA Government Sanctioned Theft) and PST (Provincial Sales Tax) on the combined price at the pump.

The oil companies do all the discovery, development, movement, refining, and distribution of the oil and its products, and makes about $5/bbl after expenses.

The gov’t does NOTHING, and makes the most money. Kinda like tobacco, without as much manipulated stigma attached.

Our idiotic Governor, Jay “Macaroni for Brains” Inslee, (CPUSA-WA) tried to get similar carbon taxes passed in the state legislature. When that failed, his cronies tried using the initiative process this last election and that went down in flames as well. It would have increased taxes on fuel by 45 cents/gal the first year and 16 cent annual increases. No oversight board to review the “green” project initiatives that were to receive the funding either...

French love higher taxes... as long as they think other people are paying them. :)

Everybody knows that higher prices and higher taxes can control the climate.

Think about it. The dinosaurs didn’t pay any taxes at all and see what happened to them!
